Kinsman Glade is steeper than Red Line and very much sustained. Lot's of folks get in over there head in there. When the snow is good, it is one of the best glades around. When the snow is bad, it is rock city.

Cool, that's what I though. Thanks for the clarification. All these trails getting pitted up against each other, I was getting confused. ;)

It's been 20 years since I've been to Cannon. Any benefit to putting snowmaking on tram line such that it can open more often in years other than like last year?

How's that Mittersill area? Remember reading it was abandoned for a while but this year will be reopened. Never skied Cannon but besides Wildcat it wouldn't appear there's another area in N.H. with comparable steeps. I remember riding up the tram in summer and thinking about that. They're the only two ski areas that top out at 4000'. Plus the views of Lafayette (nice direct hike) are awesome. Hiked down Kinsman ridge and recall the exposure and pitch up high and how steep the trail remained well into the woods. Gorgeous scenery-- rugged. 8)

+2. . . must ski to me me means at least including Sugarbush, Jay, Magic. Antelope instead of Fall Line, Chute at MRG? Starr instead of Goat ? Lynx at Wildcat not Wildcat trail, Lift Lion, Black Cat? No mention of Sugarloaf's terrain dropping off Spillway x-cut which is open earlier than the "snowfields" and just as "must ski?" Regarding the snowfields--- the original snowfields were always on the backside They switched over to the front face when Wedge became Nitro with the attendant snowmaking, widening, grooming and SL was competing against SR's "White Heat." Narrow Gauge "must ski?" Why? Because it's known as the only FIS certified trail to host a World Cup? No mention of Cannon either BTW. Looks like a list Ski magazine would publish. Down to 17 degrees tonight. . . :snow:

Most of those are pretty lame. Rim Run especially. And Canyon Run is one of my least favorites at the beloved Sundown. Antelope is a great run though. A good run doesn't have to be insanely technical or steep.

Sugarbush made the cut with Rim Run. I've never skied it, but it's hardly a trail you hear of being must-ski.. How Middle Earth or Rumble, Paradise?? Not surprised the Magic didn't get mentioned, even though it should have...

I actually like Rim Run for a cruiser personally.

The list is "must-ski" trails. You're going to pick that over everything else at Sugarbush? If you're going to pick a cruiser at least pick Upper Jester. Not the views of Rim Run, but much longer and more interesting.

Humm.....

IMHO, the overall winner here is the Pico Powerline, aka the Giant Killer Poma Line. About as narrow as it gets, 15-20ft, with a steep, rocky crux. Maybe 1000 ft vert?

dude, isn't that a "stash" if i we are thinking about the same thing. i am surprised you threw it out there.

Fair enough

I guess it just depends on the criteria for 'must ski'. If views get heavy weight, Panorama>Rim Rum is as good as it gets in New England. Pretty spectacular looking over Champlain to the dacks and North to Camels Hump and Manny. I'm guessing you could probably see Washington on a clear enough day as well.

but....it wouldn't be on My must ski list for Sugarbush. Rumble would get the call there. I could see it being on someone's though if they want a run with a view.

Eh, it's clearly visable from the base area and heavily traffic'd already. The first day I ever skied pico I spotted it and hit it up.....

That's got to be one of the worst lists I've seen. Must ski based on what??? Newsday's 'ski team' must be mostly intermediates based on what I can tell...

Not a bad list for the general population. Obviously it's not aimed at those looking for the most challenging runs. Of the trails on that list that I've skied, I think each has something to make it interesting.

Upper Cannon is one of my favorite blue runs in NE. Not much steepness, but plenty of twists and turns to make a really fun run. Plus, it often has great conditions when most of the mountain turns to wind-blasted ice.

I wouldn't consider all the trails on the list good for the general skiing population either, assuming that means intermediates. There's also trails like Lower K27 at Hunter and Catapult at Catamount, neither of which is likely to appeal to a skier who enjoys many of the other trails listed on the list, like Mohawk at BEast or Canyon Run at Sundown..

The list is a mixed bag of mellow cruisers and some trails that are typically considered pretty tough.

Kinsman and Tramlinr has to be some of the steepest and constant pitch in the East. Anybody know what the exact vertical drop is on these? Kinsman also has some hidden stashes off of it for some good shots, I think they showed these in "Head for the Hills".

Another Trail you can add to this list is new for this season at Saddleback. It's the old T-Bar line where they have installed a new Quad. The name of the trail is Artula. It's barely been widened and it's straight, very steep, and very narrow and it's about 1000 vertical ft. It won't be groomed either….
