What are you doing to stay sane?

I know it's a little late for me, but I'm still making the effort.

No skiing/riding, so what are you doing to distract yourself from this ugly non-start to the season?

Me? I'm working too much. I be the OT Ho! Vacation coverage, Blasting details, Training coverage, I have no shame. When that runs out, I go do radio installations, repairs, reprogramming, etc.. Toss in some teaching EMT and Paramedic wannabes and I hardly have time to think about sliding.

For the past few weeks I've been:
-Doing more "warm weather" exercise. Biking, hiking, jogging, etc. Biking at least will be a pain with snow on the ground, so I haven't minded a few last bike rides for the year.

-Going out a lot and hanging out with non-skiing friends. Last week I went to see a friend-of-a-friend's band, went to the symphony, went to a brewer's dinner, and went to friends' house to watch the Pats game. Most of these activities were with non-skiing friends. Might as well build up a little goodwill so they don't forget who we are by March.

-Watching football.

-Drinking beer.

Whether any of this has kept or made me sane is debatable, but I've been having a reasonably good time, and I haven't tried to climb into a snow globe yet.

Staying Sane

I'm trying to find someone who wants to take a quick three (ski days) run out to UT with me right after Thanksgiving. They are getting some nice coverage all this week!

DO IT!!!!

Do it is right! Then let me know which dump its at. After purchasing a Stihl back-pack blower for the leaves I won't be able to afford a snoblower this season. But I do plan on using my blower for those light, powdery snow days.

Dude, the thing is an absolute beast. It's a hand me down from my uncle who apparently mistook the weather in lancaster Pa. where he lives for that of Mt Washington. First time i used it, i blew the snow clear across my yard and hit the front of my house. You have to aim the chute practically straight down. Overkill doesnt even begin to describe this monstrosity. oh and it bellows black smoke and backfires alot. But it has a mean headlight and 5 forward speeds and 2 for reverse.

I follow the snowfall in Summit County as I will be there for nearly a week three months from now. So far the state seems to be fairing well from this El Nino pattern and in the end high elevation will prevail over even the warmest of storms.

This warm weather (72f in Hartford) is depressing.
