After last year, mine are set pretty low. After skiing only a handful of WRODs well into December last year, I would really like to be treated to some decent terrain in December. With all the new players in the industry this year, it's going to be an interesting early season game.

I'm eyeing the Mt Snow thing, but It will probably be whenever Wachusett opens which will hopefully be by T-day.

Unfortunately, that's all I expect anymore...:-?

Actually, I wonder why people go on skiing vacations during Christmas week...it doesn't seem that much terrain is open by then and the crowds only make things worse.

All of that said, I'll still go out...skiing WRODs definitely beats dealing with the crowds at the malls.

Thanksgiving for some turns and building from there...I was hoping for Mt. Ellen, but it's looking like Lincoln Peak instead.

Here in Pennsylvania I'm not expecting any decent terrain (East Mt at JF or the good stuff at Elk) until late Dec. Any sooner would be a bonus. Hpefully we can be open right after T Giving. Don't know that'll I'll be heading north until Jan or Feb.

Just as long as I can get a few runs in so I can once again locate those ski specific muscles that ONLY skiing causes their use, I'll be happy. It will be Mt Snow for me whatever weekend they open up in all likelyhood.

Two seasons ago I skied deep powder at Blue mountain on December 9th..For the early season it's a time for me to ease back into it. I do most of my mad steezy 40-60K+ vert days mid-late season...early season my sessions are generally shorter and more mellow..yes I like to ski fast but I definitely don't try to get as low as possible when carving turns. I also don't get as much mad steezy air. Last season I skied Jackson Hole in late January and prior to my Jackson Hole trip, I skied pretty limited terrain here in the east but the season turned around in a hurry and I scored several late season powder days at Blue mountain and Stowe..Valentines, St Patricks, and pre-Easter all come to mind. If stuff starts out as poorly in the east as it did last season, I'm going to Utah for 4-5 days in mid-December..with the remaining 2007 vacation days..if things start off well in the east, I'll use them up in Northern Vermont..

The first day I expect to get is 12/14 at Hunter. It would be a bonus if I could squeeze in a night before then at Sundown.

Hopefully Killington before Thanksgiving. If not, probably the week before Christmas. Not holding my breath for the Poconos to have anything decent before then. That would be nice though... Did a few early December days in the past in the Poconos that were decent, but that was after a very cold November. We'll see...

I really hope Blue mountain can open a week after Black Friday..that's still officially November and the earliest I remember them openeing is December 2nd...I'd definitely like 30 days in by New Years..that's most dependent on when Blue mountain opens. I'd also like to hit an early season session at Big Boulder if they can open before Blue mountain like last season..it's less than an hour from me...it's tiny in vert but I can get alot of runs in. 43 runs in 4 hours last December on opening day..it was cool because opening day at Big Boulder was in the 20s and there were tower guns blowing on all the open trails creating a sweet silky surface

My expectations are skiing on 8-12" of base on Canyon, Standard, and Snowdance at Mount Snow on November 12th. Mount Snow seems to think so too. :D

I have lots of grand expectations for early season, like skiing 5 days in November. But I had those grand plans last year too - as it turned out, my first day on the hill was Killington in December. That also happened to be my first AZ outing with Marc, Trailboss, Roark and BigO.

This year, if I can get a day in before the Hunter gathering on Dec 14, I'll be a happy man. But judging from the past, I probably won't get a chance before then and I will be the group gaper.

This year no expectations for early season, I've gotten so much into hiking that if skiing doesn't start early, I'll be hiking. If there is snow and no lifts, I'll be hiking for turns. Regardless of how late or early the season starts, I hope to beat last year's total of 51 days skiing.
