Never been there but from reading reports last year I gather it's know for tree skiing ? So January might be a little bony ?Or does the manmade reach enough areas ?

I've been told that the smoke blocks out the sunlight and creates a cold micro-climate over Platty on weekends. Research has shown that Platty picks up about 10 inches of snow each year as a direct result.

Snowlover can probably confirm this. The issue with the Summit at Platty the lack of chips, Doritos, and Hostess snacks within a sixty mile radius.

It really does get alot more snow than places like Hunter. January/February mostly the ideal time to go.
