A little bit. Still considerably cheaper in NH than in VT or ME. It's been 15-20 cents more expensive per gallon each time I've visited VT this summer. Same goes for ME. Areas of MA are comparable in price.
For me VT. is usually 20-25 cents cheaper than NYC. Where you fill up in VT. can make a difference too. I've found that filling up in either Rutland or White River Junction can be 15-20 cents cheaper than other areas of the state.

I'm not in VT or ME very much, but I've had mixed results comparing MA and NH gas prices. I live in Chelmsford, MA and plan my gas stops when driving to or from the White Mountains. Cheap gas can be had in Plymouth and Concord. However, there is none to be found in the Mount Washington Valley. Despite lower gas tax, it costs noticeably more to fill up there than in my area of MA.

Just a distance thing, I'd assume. Plymouth and Concord are right along 93, more convenient to wherever the gasoline is distributed from.

Gas along that route are generally below the state average. I travel that stretch every day for work.

Since people are comparing, here is the Federal & State taxes paid at the pump (rounded to the cent) that's baked into every gallon of gas sold (via Wiki).

New York 68¢
Connecticut 68¢
Pennsylvania 60¢
Rhode Island 51¢
Vermont 51¢
Maine 48¢
Taxachussetts 45¢
New Hampshire 38¢
New Jersey 33¢

The above does NOT include local and/or city taxes charged in some areas, which are in addition to the above.

This is why I fill my tank in New Jersey, then calculate how much gas is needed for purchase in Vermont to:
A) avoid stopping in New York for gas
B) Make sure my tank is practically empty upon hitting the Jersey border

For me anything I might save in gas filling up in NJ is blown by paying the toll for the NYS thruway & then some. One of the reasons I drive the Taconic State Pkwy (no tolls).
