How did you think Grand Targhee stacked up to JH?

Actually, I didn't ski lift serviced at Grand Targhee, I did a day of Cat Skiing. The conditions, when I was there were much better at Grand Targhee than JHMR, but...I was paying big bucks to get a day of untracked.

JHMR has a lot more to offer, more terrain, more vertical, more variety. Grand Targhee has more open bowls and a lot less skier traffic. We were looking over at the lift served terrain (3 days after the last storm) and while it was tracked, it was not tracked out. It's well worth a day or two if you're in that area.

Went to Vail, might put it on the frequent hit list. Went to Whiteface. Was hoping to hit it again for spring skiing, no go. Next year I would really like to hit Stowe, Sugarbush, maybe Jay.

Nothing new this year, though a friend and I are thinking seriously about booking something for Chile in August. Otherwise, for next year (or some year) I hope to have my first visits to Smuggs and Sugarloaf. The latter is pretty unlikely because it is just so far away.

Just did that drive this winter -- should be easily under an hour (maybe closer to 40-45) straight up 100 (beautiful drive/no traffic) -- piece of cake and well worth it -- skied there all season (1st season - switched from Stowe). As others said, there are plenty of trails for your wife and daughter -- and you as well -- one great thing is the layout at SB South (set in a natural bowl) is that everyhing comes together naturally at the base w/o being crowded -- so they can ski Gatehouse chair etc. and you can hit anywhere else you want and easily hook up with them when you need to.
