Well we are always on here talking about what ski areas we havent been to and wanna hit every year, im just curious what ski areas will you never go to again because of a bad experience or just a pure hatred for them? Mine would be Mt Snow.. I was there last year, went to get lunch in the lodge, checked my voicemail found out a family member was in a car accident in the hospital.. Well get out to my car and what do they do they park a row of cars down the middle of all the aisles.. So needless to say i could not get my car out at all, and paging the person wasnt going to work.. Well 4hours later i was on my way but because of that even though the skiing was very good and its a very accessible mountain to Southern New England they will never have any of my business again.. Im sure some of you have stories of your own???

Probably only the very tiny ski areas that were closest to where I grew up - Camp Gaw in NJ (only was there once) and Sterling Forest in NY, a little over an hour north of the city, where I was at only during freshman year of HS when I was on my school's ski team. Otherwise I had no reason to go to those places, and doubt I will again. I might've stuck Mountain Creek on the list, as I was last there around 12 years ago (when it was Great Gorge/Vernon Valley) .. until this year. Who knows, it might be 12 years before I go again, but I guess I can never say "never."

gee whiz, there are lots of mountains i would never ever ski again, but i don't think any of them are due to a bad experience. obviously, i am done with anything in central and eastern MA (bradford, nashoba, wawa) and i doubt i will get down to some of the southern NH areas i have been too before such as crotched and ragged. haystack is now out for obvious reasons. i don't think i will ever get back to waterville or tenney either. i have had experiences at these ski areas ranging from acceptable to great, nothing bad. but they just are not on my map any more due to better things in the immediate area, so i won't be back to those areas in my lifetime most likely. a lot of smaller areas that i want to hit up (balsams, dartmouth, whaleback, middlebury, etc.) would likely be for first time novelty reasons and never again.

i am even keeping areas i don't like such as sunday river, loon, and kmart on the map if the circumstances are right!

I don't like to be negative, every ski area is good for something. I did have a bad experience at Bretton Woods, and will probably not be returning. Even though I got some turns in on some good cruising terrain, the conditions weren't great, the service wasn't very friendly, and there weren't many steeps or other expert stuff I was looking for. But a ski area is a ski area, and anywhere with snow and a slope is at least good for something.

The areas I probably will not ski again...

can be found here: http://www.nelsap.org

that is, of course, unless they are reborn!

All ski areas are worth skiing for one reason or another...if nothing else, to keep them off the list that I mentioned above. :)

I don't think I'll ever ski at Mount Snow again; haven't since my skis were stolen there about 10 years ago. You don't steal the Ski Diva's skis!!!!!

Also, I'll never ski anywhere in PA. But then again, I haven't skied in Pennsylvania for about 5 years, since I got my house in VT. We're planning to move there full time, as soon as I can sell my #!@#! house in PA. (Curse this real estate market!!)

One more thing -- this isn't related to a specific area, but I'll never ski on a weekend or a holiday, if I can help it. Can't take the crowds.

At least at Campgaw on a clear day you can see NYC off to the right.

Killington. Seriously, I was scared of get run over during every second of the day. Just too much lift capicity. I'm going to be so popular for this view.:p

I'd like to say Mount Snow... but in a couple years I'll be getting an ASC pass. Now most of the time I'll just make the extra half-hour trek to Killington, but it might make me return to Mount Snow a few times. In reality, I'd rather stay at Wachusett than go to Mount Snow. I really hate it that much. I probably won't see Jiminy much again either because I didn't like it very much and it's the same size as Wachusett.

Mount Snow is the only mountain I can say that about though. I left Sunapee very happy after MLK this year and it's not too far so I try to get up there once or twice. I've never had a bad experience at Okemo besides holiday crowds. Same with Killington. Waterville and Loon... well... they are what they are. I have a relitive who has a timeshare in Waterville Valley so I go there almost every year. If I end up going to PSU, I'll probably see them and Loon a lot. The rest of the mountains I've been to are the "way up north" mountains, you can't go wrong with those.

I won't say I'd never ski there again, nor would I say I absolutely hate it, but we were very dissapointed in Okemo. Went on a weeked to meet some folks. Way way too crowded, both on and off the slopes. Wasn't impressed with the terrain either. We might enjoy it on a quiet weekday but I can't ever see us going out of way to ski there again.

My list of ski areas that I will never go to again is pretty long. Some I hit with bad conditions, some just don't have terrain that fit my preferences and some are just too crowded. But here is my list:
Loon
Waterville
Stratton
Wachusett
Yawgoo Valley
Sunday River
Mt Snow

I would like to say that I will never go to Attitash again but a friend has a pass there and condo so unfortunately that may not be a true statement.

Hmmm.....how about a positive vibe thread?
I don't think every thread needs to be positive. Threads like this have their place too IMO. It's good to see what people don't like as well as what they like. For example, if you know you have very similar preferences in ski areas as someone else, then it is worthwhile to know what areas they don't like as well as what they like. Again, just my opinion.

I can understand you're POV. It's my home mountain, and if you know "where to go" you can have a different experience. But thats cool.

My home Mtn too...and agree with SkiDork 100%...its all about knowing how to ski the mtn during certian times of the day...

Kmart does have too much uphill lift capacity, so too many skiers is usually a problem, stick with a "local" who knows the mtn..you'll have a much "richer" experience.
