Trying to decide on a destination for the weekend. Especially since Sunday is Superbowl day and the slopes are traditionally empty...

Normally, Plattekill is my big time favorate after a big storm. (or Bellearye/Hunter for day trip) But from what I see posted here, sounds like the Catskills got ice on top of whatever snow they got earlier. Not too inviting...

I'm leaving for JH next week so am not too keen on driving too far. So where's the snow vs ice line from Wednesday? Just trying to find the shortest drive (from south) and still escape the big "I' word.

I assume you're not going to Jersey but we got 5-6" of snow and then about 1/2 " of ice, though the conditions were surprisingly good at Hidden Valley today. They did a great job grooming and the only ice was on the snow off the trails.

not being a football fan, I'm usually skiing. It's usually quite busy until noontime at most places, then it quickly become a ghost town.

I could be wrong but I believe the ice-snow line was as far north as souther adks, s. vt and s. nh.
Speaking only from my trip today (which is of no interest to you), I saw all snow north of Rochester-Concord NH line.

Same here...any input on how far us city folk need to drive to get past the ice/sleet/s*** line? Berkshire East? Gore? Magic?

20" at Killington. The wind really got at it. By the weekend, I'd expect the trails will have little sign of all the snow. The woods will still be soft but pretty tracked out.

Here's what my place looked like at 8:45 Thursday morning.

I'm hitting Plattekill as I think they fared the best. Hunter got iced as the westside report shows Annapurna closed and snowmaking on Clairs and lower k-27 is closed. Skied Platt last week and found no ice at all, just hardpack...its a natural snow base.

Chances are good I'll hit Plattekill tomorrow, so I'll let you know.

I just got up to Mount Snow and shoveled 18 inches off my walkway. I didn't see any hint of ice that we had in CT. The snow was heavy, not the light fluffy stuff that has dropped over the last month.

Just drove up to my rental house near Belleayre. Snowed all the way up 28 (slowing it down to 30 MPH avg because a couple people can't drive). Must have been at least 5" of soft stuff by the time we got to the house at 9:30 PM. So it was the soft snow on top of a thin crust as I broke my way through it going the 30 yards from the car to the porch. It was a really thin crust. I think the 5" here in Halcott will be more at the mountain. The groomers will do their magic and tomorrow is going to be schweet! Sunday is Potter Bros. flex day, so that might bring in enough people to offset any Superbowl loss.

Hopefully Platt gets some more...too bad I have to wait until Sunday to get to it. Just can't catch any new stuff out here.
