I'm stuck in the middle. Don't know if I feel like dealing with the holiday crowds but want to maximize my time. Since most areas are opening this weekend, I think the option to skin up is going to be limited at most areas.

Wanted to try to hit some BC but the base isn't there yet...

What to do??

Myonly option was to hit Sunapee on Saturday. I know it is going to be crowded but if I can get there early and get a couple good runs it may sufice my urge to ride for now...or make it worse:roll:

Given the number of areas that will open this weekend and the excellent variety of terrain available due to good snow making temperatures and natural snow, I think the crowding factor will not be a huge issue. That said, I will probably ride the lifts exclusively on Saturday and do slack country on Sunday.

toying...

I have been toying with Sugarloaf or Stowe/Sugarbush. I am seeking higher elevations, with the hope that the snowpack is preserved in spite of the rain event and may actually have a net snow gain. Sugarloaf may just be too far a drive. I wish Saddleback was open. Another consideration is Bretton Woods. Which day I go is entirely up in the air.

I pretty sure using a voucher at Sugarloaf. It depends on how much terrain Wildcat opens

Nothing official here, but I'd plan on the Loaf, esp if you have a voucher. The word last night from WC was very discouraging. Just thought I'd toss that your way if you want to make FIRM plans.

Yeah, it's kind of 90% chance of the Loaf, 10% chance of the Cat. Wildcat's website said Saturday was opening day, but we'll see after the expected 'r' event today/tomorrow. I've got two early season vouchers to Sugarloaf, which if I don't use become twofers after NYE for the remainder of the season. I'm leaning towards holding onto them for springtime when the Loaf rules. So, it's a question of whether I pay $20 for Sunday afternoon at Wildcat or use a voucher at the Loaf. We'll see how the weather goes between now and Saturday.

It's the River for me this weekend... I'll be paying... sigh...

going with friends who all have passes (2 have the college pass and one has the silver pass)... I need to get a SR pass next year.

It will be easier when I can the the SR/SL/Loon pass as I'll end up skiing loon and SR a lot as I have friends with places in both Lincoln and at Sunday River... too bad that got nixed this year.

I'm paying and it looks like it will be Stowe on Saturday. There's a chance I'll hit Sugarbush instead but I'm leaning towards Stowe for more open terrain & more natural snow there.

Ok, nevermind. Snow is up to mid season ticket rates. I'm not paying $72 to ski a day there. It'll be touring and maybe the mighty Wa.

I'm shelling out $60+ a day to ski with a few thousand of my closest friends at Killington..

Say what? Eagle chair only? They couldn't even get Ravine open? That is really lame as they could not have asked for more perfect conditions for prolonged snow making and all that natural to boot.... That is seriously terrible. I am beside myself that Cannon would open with only Eaglecliff Chair.

We were supposed to be paying Sat... but now I'm not sure. Very limited on how far we can go away at this point and the 2 places we considered are not open. :(

$72 this early with the limited terrain, I'll give them credit for opening early and doing a good job, but damn, that's crazy! Even Killington is only charging $60
