I only ski weekdays. I have plenty of days off in my regular schedule, it's just that they change every week.

For four years it was Monday Tuesday, sometimes other days at Magic. I started to free ski at other places the last two season, and now I'll need to reign things in a little bit.

Right now, I'm looking at a couple of new patrol options and it looks like most of the time, I'll be back to the majority of my ski days hauling sleds.

Midweeks aren't more crowded, there's just a higher percentage of skiers/riders who a very pasionate abou the sport. Remember, the members here (and other forums, for that matter) tend not to be representative of the general skiing public. (Minor understatement ;-) )

I'm so spoiled to weekdays, I often stay clear of busier backcountry areas on weekends.

Most of my skiing is done on weekday night at my local hill. When on a ski-trip I try to avoid weekend if I can.

Skiing weekdays is whta truly got me back into skiing a few years ago. After a long absence on the slopes I decided to ski w/a few guys from work on a weekday and WOW - what a difference.

-Virtually no lift lines (ski on usually)
-Much more breathing room on trails (less chance of collision)
-Conditions hold up much better (good morning = at least pretty good late afternoon)
-Room to sit at lodge/bar (who wants SRO at lunch or apres'?)

I usually only ski midweek on Powder days or special occasions . . .

But, to play devil's advocate, there are some things better about weekends. More hot women, more people in the bar afterwords, live music, and more trails/lifts open (at least at my home mountain).

I usually ski midweek since I'm working at Mt. Sunapee on the weekends (running a lift). The places I frequent can vary as I have been trying to hit new places all the time, but I have a Burke Pass as well as a Sunapee, Cannon, Gunstock pass (despite having a Sunapee/Okemo employee pass) so I will probably head for some of those if time permits. I'm debating on a Ragged pass as after 4 times it basically pays for itself, but I'm not sure.

So will you be hitting Hunter?

Well, if I'm off during the week, it's always possible. Killington will still be my primary since I got the season pass for one more year. But Hunter, or Plattekill on a Powder day by be a nice stop on my way home from Killington or on my way up there.

....weekday skier

I think anyone who is truely interested in their skiing(skill-level) and/or who simply enjoys the time on a hill/mountain for more than the social aspect......tries to "as much as possible". ....Whether it's possible is another matter.
I hope you don't mind someone saying that to some...this is a very strange topic..., behavior-wise....y/n?

Weekend or Weekday?

Hi Andy! Just saw this thread. Since I now live about 20 minutes from Alta and Snowbird and I just bought my "Alta-Bird" season pass. I will be skiing weekdays except for those times when a visitor from the east (or farther west, since one of my sons now lives in San Diego) is in town for some slope time.

Well, with my wife being injured, I handed our season passes back to Killington and am now looking more at day trips. For me the Catskills appear to be the best bet. The Big Card at Hunter is looking like the best deal. For now, my days off are Sunday to Tuesday and have some vacation time, so can do other days as well. If anyone is skiing up there during the week, let me know. The only things that may hold me back are days that she has PT and leaving her at home, hate to do it.
