Why any board I ride has a leash

On a snowboard - I clip in immediately.. Only for safety reasons while I'm putting my bindings on..
After that it doesn't matter...

On skis - I certainly wouldn't want my skis leashed to my feet on a bad fall... I guess it depends on what kind of skier you are... I've never seen any of my tele friends fall at TUX... I never noticed if they leash...

I have made a career of falling. When we used to have ski straps, falling was extremely dangerous, even moreso because we had not helmets. On hardpack, the skis would bounce wildly about often bruising me moderately and putting handsome lacerations on the ski pants and sometimes the jacket.

That was what I appreciated the most about ski brakes: Not being bashed, gashed and slashed. I lost skis once in powder. It took me over 45 minutes to find them. That's often why people use straps.

Yeah but powder cords don't attach to your leg... You just tuck 'em in your pants cuff...
