Why do you ski??? Don't ask why, but yesterday while playing golf I was thinking about skiing, then started wondering what people do in the "winter" who have no "winter". In other words---I feel as thought I'm a product of my environment, or I ski because i grew up and live in the heart of lake effect snow. That's why I ski simply because I don't know any better, and there's nothing else to do where I live except bowl ( i do that too).
So I ask you, why do you ski???

I started because my husband is passionate about it. I stick with it because it's my Zen. It's the only time my mind is totally clear and I think about nothing else, just live in the moment. I crave it for balance in my life.

Let's see I was like 8 yrs. old during the 1980 Olympics. That must have made a major impact, no one had to convince me to start skiing I had to convince my parents to allow me on that first bus trip back in junior high. Thanks :) Danrell ski tours.

I like the adrenaline rush, I like the individual aspect of skiing(I never liked team sports), I like snow and winter in general, and I like all the statistics associated with skiing. When I ski my mind definitely isn't clear...I still think about errands I have to do and work..but not as much. I must like skiing alot because I skied 119 days last season and 110 days the season before. Skiing has changed the path of my life. If it wasn't for skiing, I would have never gone to the University of Vermont, I would have never been a skibum in Montana, and I might be living in New York City or Los Angelos or something. Woo Hoo for Skiing..

I lived for years in Utah without skiing. Plenty of the locals have never been in their life. In Vermont it's different. Almost everybody skis or used to when they were younger.

Here is what I like about skiing in no particular order.

1. I love the clean, crisp air and the view from the mountains. It's beautiful up there.
2. I enjoy the adrenaline rush.
3. I get some exercise during a time of the year when I'd otherwise be sluggish.
4. My mood improves dramatically in the winter if I get outdoor time and a little bit of natural sun.

I ski because its the only thing besides being on a motorcycle that sets you free.. Theres no worries or thoughts about work the next day, or problems you may be having in your life, for those hours i am free from everything.

Like many of you, skiing is a big part of my identity. I enjoy it for all the tangible reasons most of you do; scenery, exercise, challenge, excitement, etc. Also, like many of you, when I'm skiing I feel a very distinct sense of peace. All those day to day worries are briefly forgotten about during my time on the hill. It's a great time to bond with family and friends, or to meet new people, i.e. AZers. I enjoy the whole scene, from walking to the base area from the lot to apres. Multi-day vacations with the family are especially enjoyable. Teaching my oldest daughter to ski has only reinforced my love for the sport. My youngest will be ready towards the end of next season, and I can't wait for the day when my wife, the kids and I can all ski together.

ha! no. In Milton, that's just north of Burlington. Burlington is near Vermont...

You mean burlington isn't all of Vermont??? Amazing!!! Kinda just like NYC isn't all of New York.
Know where Milton is----I used to live in Jeffersonville
