I believe in 2007 that hit 185,000 skier/rider visits.

Also everyone had a late start this year.

(1) April 5-11? Hope they are still open, but that will be tough.
(2) That is your NY tax $$ at work. What a terrible idea, should be illegal. Hunter/Windham can't do this, it would be irresponsible if they did. Belleayre should be sold to the highest bidder.

Well if they make back their operating budget then no tax dollars were wasted. Based on what I saw last week on wednesday this $20 lift ticket idea is really working. The money lost from the discount is more than made up by there being easily 2x to maybe 3x as many people there than normal on a weekday

But where do the skiers come from though? Were those skiers who otherwise would have gone to Hunter? Or were they skiers who otherwise would have skied on Tuesday (or Thursday)?

If it's the former, it's a success. But if it's the latter, it's just re-distributing the skier visits, with a net lose in ticket income.

Also, once the novelty wore off, will they (the otherwise Hunter skiers) continue to come?

Wednesdays are 20 10 days. $20 lift ticket AND $10 rental. This is a great opportunity for the never evers to try skiing or riding when the place is not overwhelming with 4000 customers on a weekend. The sport is aging fast and needs new recruits. Never evers will hopefully eventually ski and ride at Hunter, Windham, Plattekill, Gore, Whiteface, Vermont, Utah, .........

As long as they have it in their budget... More power to them!

Hunter can do it... But being firmly ensconced in the private sector they would never cause they need to pay people more(insurance,etc..) then a state run joint. Gotta make $ and turn a profit. Sorry to say - but thats just the way it is...

I have a paid Belleayre ticket from this year... I'll be there to have a beer with Tony and crew...
