Would You Trade For 2 Winters?

I’ve seen several posts where the poster is already depressed that their ski season is over and can’t wait for next season. If you could trade away your summer for another winter would you do it? This isn’t entirely fanciful because there are ski pros that head to the Southern Hemisphere in the summer to patrol or teach there.

I would not, I love the summer and all the out door activities that go with it. During the summer sometimes I do get the skiing itch, but it doesn’t really get bad for me until the fall.

I think that the old saying that people move to the mountains to ski in the winter, but end up staying because of the summers is a valid one.

No, I wouldn't trade. I enjoy the summer, as do my kids. I do long for winter though, but I think at some level the anticipation of the ski season helps keep my passion for skiing alive.

Nail right on the head with this one. The hills in the summer are as nice as they are in the winter

Skip Spring and Fall. Make Summer exactly 8 weeks.

Actually I kinda like the seasons. It would be nice if we had few glaciers in NE, so we could go get a skiing fix year round.

No way. Winter makes me appreciate summer and summer makes me appreciate winter. While I love my skiing, there definately was a decent part of me that felt a slight sigh of relief when I clicked out of the bindings for the last time this ski season this past Sunday, and that same part of me was/is looking forward to a few weeks from now when the snow on the trails at Mount Snow will be all melted and the ground dried up a bit so that my mountain hiking season with the family can begin.

I think someday WAY WAY WAY down the road, if mother nature stills wants me to physically, and I've finally retired, I'd love to have a dream year where I'd ski 100-125 days and then golf 175-200 days. That would be my dream "2 seasons"

I'm going skiing in Chile for my summer vacation.

I like a lot of aspects about summer. It's nice to not have that huge heat bill every month. I love tomatoes out of my garden. I live right on salt water and I like sailing, rowing the dingy, and blasting around in my powerboat (if it actually gets in the water this year). I hike mountains and ride my bicycle but that's more for fitness to keep my legs in shape for ski season than pure love of it. Summer parties and BBQs are fine but I prefer slopeside spring skiing parties and BBQs better.

In my ideal universe, it would be April for the rest of my life.

I'm happy with the four season set-up that Mother Nature provides. As much as I enjoy skiing late fall/winter/early spring, I enjoy the hiking and biking and beach time in the warm-weather times of year. As often as I find myself thinking ski thoughts in summer I think beach thoughts in winter.

My favorite season is winter but how boring life would be if it was winter all year long.Like living in San Diego.I think this part of the world is so wonderfull BECAUSE we have 4 seasons.I love skiing but I love being on the water at the BIG lake and fishing on the ocean in summer attire. We have it all here and I want it to stay that way.

Hell yeah..I enjoy playing golf in the summer..sleeping late on the weekends..BBQs..seeing scantily clad college girls...and hiking..but I'd trade it all for an endless winter...If Skiing was year round..I'd ski every weekend and 2-3 evenings after work..plus use my entire 4 weeks vacation time on ski trips(I already use most of my vacation time for skiing as it is)..so I'd be at almost 250 days a year..now that would be mad steezy...oh well..I can dream..

I lived in Montana from October of 2002 to April of 2004..the two ski seasons were great..the summer sucked..dry, dusty, and hot..yuck..mountains in the summer can't hold a candle to mountains in the winter..

I was starting to get afraid I'd be the only one who wanted 2 winters. As for those wanting multiple seasons, you still have spring and fall .. late spring and early fall can be nicer than summer anyways, at least by me.

Nah i like the change of seasons and with it the change in sporting activities and variety - too much of a good thing can be stultifyingly boring.

I'd want an endless winter like the title of the Warren Miller movie..every year I dream about a year without a summer like in 1816...hot weather sucks..

I love all the seasons and have enough activities to keep me busy during the non snowy months...from surfing, sailing, waterskiing, triathalons, mtn biking, playing with the kids, heading to Cape Cod.....

I would trade away the summer for any other season of the year. I have absolutely no use for the summer. Too hot, too humid, too muggy, etc. I would gladly have two falls or two springs even. Summer is useless in terms of the seasonal aspects.

I would definitely go for an endless winter but would need a break after a while. We have given up boating as its just too expensive so all I have left is my car which I go on various runs with until winter kicks in. I'de be into hiking but the wife isn't. Got to find something to do outdoors, maybe a kayak.

i second that. the only thing i do in the heat of summer is sit by the lake and drink. in fact i drink way to much when theres no snow to slide on. i have no excuss and i have go out with clients. i love to party like a rockstar but i like snow o so much more.
