Link worked for me.

Derailment is a serious issue. But let's consider how many ski resorts there are out there, how many lifts there are, how many chairs..... the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, derailment is a very real possibility on any and all lifts, for a variety of reasons. I can't say that there are more this season than in the past, but maybe they're just getting more news coverage?

Regardless, there's also a very real possibility of getting hit by a car any day you get out onto the roads (whether behind the wheel of a car as well or as a pedestrian) but that does not keep you off the roads, correct? I don't think anyone should be any more concerned than usual about a derailment while riding a lift either.

Per the start of the article itself:

I didn't open the article because word had it that it was not opening...but thanks for putting that out there. Glad the link is working now. Wonder what kind of chairlift it was?

Didn't mean anything by that. Just that the article started with that location. Hope nobody was offended.

So do you think that there are more than usual this year or is the media just reporting them better? I bet someone has the data out there.

I think the AZ group just started paying attention ;)

either that or all the terrific snow has brought abnormally high number of skier visits = higher stress on the lifts....
