The patch on Temptor is long and wide enough to ski, although the snow surface was pretty firm and crunchy. I bet a week ago it probably went the entire length of the steep section on Temptor. A true testament to just how much snow they made on that trail this season. I actually had my skis in the car, but there were a few employees milling about, one of whom was nice enough to say it was cool if I walked around and took some pictures. I didn't want to press my luck. A nice little walk in the early morning. I saw a bunch of turkeys and a beaver. Kind of a nice way to add some closure to my ski season.

And you didn't ski it?

If this was probably any other ski area or if there was nobody there, I might have. Sundown is private property and we've been told here specifically skiing when closed is not allowed. I've built a pretty strong relationship with the mountain and it's not worth jeopardizing that for a dozen turns on frozen slush. Sorry I disappointed you...

So Sundown lets you hike around even though it's private property...if I went to Blue mountain and hiked..I could be cited for tresspassing..

No, not technically. I did ask the one employee I saw and he didn't have any problem with it. Walking around and strapping skis on could be looked at much differently from a liability standpoint. Again, I get info direct from the mountain and they take a lot of our feedback and suggestions seriously (the mogul competition is one example). It's just not worth pissing anyone off. I guess I'm not "core" enough.

So what's wrong with saying: "What? I hike with my skis strapped to my feet all the time" :D

Those troughs look a little grassy on the bumps ;)

Don't you ever work? ;)

Funny about the turkeys on the trail. Definitely some closure for the season.

I pulled in at 6:45 am this morning. Took me a bit over 20 minutes to hike up Exhibition -> Lower Nor'easter -> Temptor. Got to work by 8:30.

 I bet many trails were almost top to bottom well into April; at least into the first week of that big mid-month warm-up. The size of the big air jump is still amazing. That pile will probably hold on well into May.
