On a typical ski day, how often do you yard sale it?

How often do you crash and lose your skis on a given today? If you don't lose your skis at least once, do you think you aren't pushing yourself enough? If you lose your skis too many times, do you think you are pushing it too hard?

I'd have to say I fall at least 2 - 3x per day on the slopes. Typically happens either in moguls or a terrain park, not really on groomers (ever?).

Not very often Nick. See you Saturday before your beloved party?

I typically don't fall on an "average" day and couldn't remember the last time I had a full-blown, yard sale. My bindings are set pretty tight on the DIN though, so if they come off, it has to be something pretty dang ugly, so DIN can kindof acts as a "Yard sale preventer". lol

Am I not pushing myself enough? That's a tough question I'm not sure how to answer.

Occasionally on tough, steep moguls I'll do a quick "thigh or butt check" down/up, but I'm not counting those as falls as I either can continue skiing or I'm right back up. If I skied moguls all day long though, I'm sure I'd fall more.

Skiing is one of those rare sports that as I age I still haven't gained any kind of a fear of taking a bad digger (unlike, say, Mt biking). My bindings last year needed adjustment as I was popping out even with heavy mogul hits but at Sugarloaf I probably wrecked three times pretty good and stepped out of my bindings another 2 - 3 times.

I am not happy if I fall 2-3 times in a given day. Falls take a lot out of me, and of course they do have an element of risk. There are plenty of ways I can push myself without crashing. Of course, falls are an element of the sport, but it is not my goal to push myself to the point of doing so.

depends on skill level.

I remember talking to a guy I used to work with who asked me the same thing. I told him many times I can go a whole weekend without falling. He said he can't go 1 run without falling.

That would have annoyed the crap outta me. Not to mention, quite dangerous.

That's pretty much how I feel.

I get the point of all that, but " he can't go 1 run without falling"? That's a wee-bit extreme I'd say.

Right where I want to be
I tele so my skis never fall off unless I break the bindings (happened once) or clamp them down wrong (happened once). Falling is different I probably average 1 fall every 2 times out skiing and not always where or when one would expect. I have fallen on green trails getting stuck in some weird groove and I have fallen while looking back for my kids. Icy bumps get me too.

.

Yeah I adjusted them that day so they were tighter, but I think the bindings are so old they just didn't have the right tension anymore. One of my reasons for new gear this season.

Typically I try and avoid falling. Whether I'm on groomers, in the bumps or in the trees, I ski at reasonable clip. Going any faster ups the chances of serious injury. Lost my senior year of high school ski season in a crash that resulted in a fractured C7, dislocated shoulder, concussion and compressed nerves. I really have no desire to lose a season again to injury.

The one part of the sport that I have become a complete pussy at is taking air. There is a very small part of me that wants to retrain myself how to do helicopters and what not again. I was known for going big in the air as a youngster. I see pictures of myself going big at 13 years old on my parents walls that I wouldn't dare consider doing again. I had no fear. I would even take my downhill skis off the 30M Nordic jump at my high school. Those days are gone like a fart in the wind. I'm okay with that.

I probably am a bit more aggressive b/c i've never really injured myself skiing seriously besides breaking equipment (knock on wood) despite falling fairly often. I guess I've been pretty fortunate, considering I've taken some pretty huge tumbles.

I probably fall under 10x a season (50+ days). I can't remember having a true yard sale. Several injuries though.
