I feel the same...Snowboard=Steeze with ease

Style is not what I would call how some snowboarders look.
Now Asian skiers they have style
Talking fashion here.

I was talking more about the actual riding. Slashing turns, tweaking grabs, things like that. It's more about style than technique.

To me, looking good means skiing under control with good technique, so yes, I care a lot about what I look like while skiing.

imo.... in order to improve, you have to push yourself beyond the comfort zone that sometime puts you out of control.

Never saw a snowboarder do ballet.

A bump run would be interesting.

Ski ballet is not stylish. It's just straight-up...well, I was going to say gay but that would be pretty insulting to gay people. I can't think of a good word for it but its terrible and the world is a better place without it.

And bumps are more about technique than style. There's a right way and a wrong way. On a board too.

I know my form sucks! I have never been a perfectionist or one to play to others opinions. So the way I see it - I am out there for my family and I to have fun! I would rather push myself to new challenges! As far as how everyone looks - frankly who really cares! It is not that I look at others and say wow they have good form - just not something I pay attention to!

My motto - make your own statement!

As I have had it explained to me from various instructors and coaches over the years (and also over many a beer ;) ) is that more often than not, good "style" is a function of good technique/form and it's that good technique/form that makes it easier for you to push yourself if you so choose on any given run. And also that just because someone has good technique/form doesn't always mean that they're fast or stylish and that just because someone may be fast or stylish doesn't mean they have good form.

The bottom line, for skiing at least, is that a good, centered stance, with one's torso heading down the falline and hands in front doesn't go out of style, regardless if one is cruising some cord, banging some gates, skiing bumps or dropping a cliff into a big powder filled bowl

This. I'm pretty good about keeping this stuff in mind but I still have my days where I just suck. Icy bumps with deep troughs reveal me for the poser that I am.

But if I am happy with it then who cares! I am not an extreme skier nor will I ever be. I can ski advanced terrain comfortably, however, dropping a cliff into a big powder filled bowl will never happen! I am a self taught skier (lack of money but enjoyed the sport) and the only training I ever had was while racing a few years after I first started. Was never really that good but had fun with it. I am out there to just chill and enjoy the vibe!

That's how I feel too. I think I look fine on the packed powder, but when conditions are bad, my form goes with it and I feel like I look pretty bad.

I think that's the mark of an expert skier/boarder. If you can ski expert terrain while keeping good form the entire time, then you are in fact an expert.

The right side of my brain thinks I'm an ageless ski god. The left side of my brain recognizes that I'm an arthritic old fart.
