My wife and I went to First Tracks at Mount Snow on Saturday morning. Bascially, you get to ski two runs with management before the lifts open...it's pretty sweet.

On the second lift ride, we rode up with a guy who turned 82 earlier that week. He had a ton of energy and talked about ducking ropes to get to the good trails. He said he doesn't do it anymore...but did up to a few years ago. The guy zipped too when skiing. It was a fairly large group, but I kept my eye open for him. I would love to think that when my wife and I are in our early 80's, we're still getting "First Tracks" and ripping it up with the "fast group". What an awesome guy....my hat is off to him.

yep Glenn they are inspirational for us all

3 of my ski buddies are 76 ,76 and 75 they are all very fit and typically rip for 5 hrs a day , no breaks except 20 minutes for lunch . They do gym workout while not skiing and this week i met one of THEIR former teachers from hs and his wife on the slopes they are both 88 years young and skiing very well .

So these folks are my heros. Still young at heart , vitally engaged both intellectually and physically !

My dad is 79 and still gets out some. He's been having trouble with vertigo unless the conditions are perfect. Does a lot more XC these days.

Amen to that! My GF thinks I am nuts every time I tell her that as I get older, I only hope my number of days on the slopes increases.

Reminds me of the time me and a couple friends pulled up to an older couple on a great powder day. My firend says this is what Heavens gonna be like. The older gentleman turned and said "screw that, heaven can wait, this is LIVING...................

A few years ago I was skiing by myself midweek at Sunapee. Met a man on the lift, chatted with him, he asked would I mind if he skied a run with me. We did, he bombed down one of the steeper runs there, getting air off some of the rollers. We skied the rest of the day together and I truly enjoyed my day with him. I learned somewhere during the day that he was 78! I'd gladly ski with him again!

AWESOME!!! Just the fact that he still has the desire to stay fit and active is a real blessing and inspiration. You see society REALY NEEDS this as a role model to illustrate the benefit of staying both physically and mentally fit . What a wonderful example to younger generations that "THIS IS A LIFE WELL LIVED"

Kudos to Herr Doktor Keuter !!!!

Can't wait to meet him. : - )

WarpDaddy?? 66?? You rule! I agree with the person above who said, "I hope I get to have more days on the slopes as I get older." Right now that whole "work" thing is a big problem!! : - )

I remember hearing about a guy who lived at Copper Mountain. He was 85 and had retired to there 20 years earlier. He had skied Copper every day the resort was open during all that time, except for a few days the year before (at age 84) when, get this, he had to drive back to Connecticut for his mother's funeral! And he only missed 3 days!

90+

Went to a funeral of a friend of mine who's parents died this fall. I was introduced to Tiny. He was in his mid 90's and had introduced my friends parents many years earlier. He proudly stated that he had his reservations all ready to return to Vail for his ~85s year of skiing in a row! He was spry, alert and proud. I said to him I now have a mission!

To add to the story my friends Dad had gotten in a industrial accident and had his back crushed. They said he would not walk again. He said when can I ski again. With in a year he was walking and skiing again. Dr.s can be so wrong. :)

Back to snow dancing.
