Does Hunter have snowmaking on the north and west trails? Find it amazing that both areas are closed (at least according to the website).
North definitely. West used to be fully covered but whether its functional now... Who knows

The mtn tweeted out today that the terrain part etc. was closed due to ice conditions. Of course they are open.

Flyer and north are down. Website is accurate on that which is amazing.

Place is a skating rink, but I can;t imagine anyone is surprised. Rain coming tonight, last night freezing rain...and a lot of it

I've been there at times where they said west is open, but it was just Way Out leading to the west. Other times where Claire's was open but not the lift, nor was trail listed as open in the app. The only way to repeatedly ski it is to hit the Flyer, ski down Claire, ride up the Northern Express, ski down Belt to the Flyer. If Colonial's Alternate is not open, you have to hike up the hill after getting off the Flyer.

Haven't made snow on Purna or West Way in a good decade have they?
Less than a decade but not much. Also without running the zephyr who cares. As previously posted lapping the west side is an exercise in futility. Gone are the days you could knock out 20 runs on the west and be happy. I learned so much from people I met there for instance a pair teaching me to improve my bump skiing lapping annapurna. That was a rough day.

I'll always defend the Hunter of old..it was the most badass mountain around. I swear..everyone I talk to bad mouths the place..prolly because they couldn't handle it.
The west side is as steep as almost anything you find on the east...at least within driving distance from metro areas. It was a huge jump from belleayre.
Vail..has ruined it... :(

I can remember when we would go up the end of June and there was that sliver of snow still along the rocks on the cliff. Skied there in May many times.

Hunter was my home for 3 decades. Without doubt the most difficult terrain in the Cats. Many skiers couldn't handle it. I recall skiing with some visitors from Belleayre who claimed the snow at Hunter was icier and harder than anywhere else. I loved that place.
Now I hate Vail for what they have done to it. Can't even go into the town there without getting depressed. Everything looks closed down. Half the trails have no snow. Bastards!

Don't know that I would say it has "without doubt the most difficult terrain" in a region that includes Plattekill.
