Who is fighting the calendar? Trying to get those chores done before the snow flies. All those things that you can’t do in the winter time as well as all those you don’t want to be bothered with during the agonizingly short season. This seems to happen to me every year. This year I have to finish remodeling our bathroom (that new Jacuzzi will be nice this season), install 6 new windows and paint the barn roof. The conundrum being, I can’t wait for winter, but I don’t want to be doing any of these chores during the season.

Anybody else find themselves in this situation?

I'm a teacher so I have plenty of time to do stuff like that in the summer. My major projects are all behind me. Unless it's an emergency anything else major that comes up will now wait to after April.

We are closing on a new house Sept 14. The biggest thing on the list will be to paint the entire interior of a 2200 sq ft house plus the finished basement. Of course there is the cleaning, unpacking, and building a kennel for the dogs. I want to personally fence off the yard. But after looking at all the things that need to be done, the wife will win this battle. But before I know it, those flakes will be falling.

I bought a kit to close the pool. I always scramble and never finish everything. Who cares? When it is ski season everything else can wait.

The main thing I need to do is get the rest of the loam I purchased this year off of my driveway so that I can park the cars in the garage during the winter...anything else is "nice to do"...

We just bought a new construction last summer so the list of things to do is endless. I would argue that a new home is as much work as an older home. I'll be doing a fair amount of painting inside this fall. I'd like to tweak the lawn and landscaping a bit too, but that may not happen. There will probably be a few small projects during the winter, but nothing really pressing right now.

I never got things done that I was supposed to do for summer, so I figure I'm one step ahead in prepping for winter! For example, never got the glass window out of the back door or got the plexiglass out of some of the windows on the 3-season porch.

Now, stuff in the yard, that could take a while. I had a lovely crabgrass lawn this summer. After killing most of it and seeing that I actually do have real grass in there somewhere, I need to put down the 4th step, seed, etc. Not sure if I have to remove the dead crabgrass or not, but that would be quite the project. I also would like to take the rest of the topsoil I have and possibly fill in more potholes in my yard.

That's all on top of redoing two rooms, one for an office, one for a nursery. Throw in all the small things, like shopping for and hanging curtains/blinds It's not so much the time to do all of this, but the money...
