That is just plain scary. Do you think I would marry something like that? Please, I have taste!

Looks like the love-child of a Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Wayne Newton three-way.

EEEWWW!!!!
....Ellen Degeneres, a needed ingredient for the creation of that stunning love child.....
You've hit the nail on the head.

I haven't had the chance to meet John; I did meet his brother Dan at Stowe back in December. Dan is a very cool, down-to-earth guy. Suffice it to say that he can turn them quite well.

Be sure to ask John what it was like being on that cornice when Dan knocked it down. I forget which Warren Miller movie it was in, but there was one where Dan accidentally knocked down a cornice that John was still on. John somehow jumped off a cornice that was falling down (after first trying to snowplow to a stop). Note that this cornice was overhanging a cliff that's a couple hundred feet high; if John didn't jump off, he'd be dead. I got Dan's version of what happened ("John was screaming, but he always screams, so I didn't think much of it"). I'd be interested in hearing John's version.

That sequence IS an all time classic.

I believe that cliff was on the ridgeline of a peak and the sheer drop was over 1,000 feet.

I think you're all just jealous of my awesomeness....

Seriously, sorry for the hi-jack. This sounds like one heck of a nice gift Beano! I'm sure I don't need to tell you to let us know how it goes.

Wow...My wife just gave me my birthday gift. A three hour lesson with John Egan at Sugarbush! Can you say "Wife of the Year?"

Shit I'm really nervous. I hope he doesn't expect too much from me. :spread:

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!! You'll have a blast!!!! I've never hung out with those Egan boys, but a buddy of mine went to one of their camps a fews years back, and said it was just amazing. He told me those guys are just as normal as the day is long and a lot of fun to be around. He also said the only diff between skiing with them rather than our "crew" was that they are just really, really, really good.
Anxious to hear your report. You know when you'll be going???

Oh, I'm so excited for you!
I was in Dan Egans group at ESA Stowe this year and had a great time as well as an awesome learning experience.
If Jon is anything like Dan, you're in for a HUGE treat!

Well...I finally had the lesson last Wednesday. I cant begin to tell you how much fun it was. Immediately upon meeting him my nerves were calmed because he's such a nice-easygoing guy. I've taken quite a few lessons in my life but none quite like this. It was like skiing with the Dali Llama. We didn't speak much about technique but more of fluidity of movements and confidence during the movements. He really changed the way I approach and think about skiing. I skied two days after the lesson at Jay and Stowe and constantly thought about his words on how to approach skiing. His slinky and the constant 3D transfer of energy analogy will stick with me for a lifetime.

Pretty much all around on the groomers. Because of the rain/freeze the day preceding things were pretty slick, so we stayed on piste. We tried to jump in Eden woods at one point but that was a horror show. We didn't even think about castlerock . I may try to set something up with him in the future to hit slidebrook with a few friends (Steven and Colin) after we get a dump. Much more affordable in groups. Worth every penny either way.

I did Dans clinic about 6 years ago.We had the same conditions as you so we really could not get to the goods which is why I wanted the clinic in the first place. He can certainly ski anything extreme in nature better than I but I was not that impressed with his on piste form.I think John actually has better form than Dan.If you watch a lot of his video you will see him double pole plant on one side.Kinda weird.Anyway, now that I think I'm a better skier than him I guess I should try the signature broken cornice move he and John made look like childs play.Ya right.
