I board... Ski... and tele....

I skied for a bunch of years... tried riding in the late 80s... did both for a while... started to ride only.... then about 4 years ago i started getting into telemark skiing.. Now I'm getting fitted for new ski boots...

I'd like to do more skiing this year.... I like to go fast....

Yeah, but you're a drummer, too, so that counts against you.

Or maybe for you. I forget.

On topic- I'd like to try boarding sometime, but I'd hate to give up a perfectly good ski day for it. Bit of an issue, there.

I do both... but I consider myself a skier. When life allowed me to get a lot more days in I was probablly 3:1 skiing. Now I might grab the snowboard once a year... pretty much just when the mood strikes me.

I picked up an almost new Voile splitboard with skins last year at the Waitsfield Ski and Skate Sale for $100, so it isn't always a major cash drop for entry. Heck, alpine skis can cost much more and not include skins. New AT gear isn't exactly cheap either. By the way, the Ski and Skate Sale is this weekend, Nov 14-15. Drop-off is Friday night.

You may need to consider adventures more carefully with a split, to avoid lots of mode changes, but who is looking for tight schwack traversing? The descents along the high spine of the Greens are bigger though, with lots of 1500-2000' pitches and a few approaching 3000'.

I agree it's another step in getting ready to go up or down, but Voile's system is pretty cool. And riding powder on a snowboard is one of the most joyous experiences I've ever had.

That said, I ski more than anything these days, because it is primarily what my body likes best now.

Nice turns today at MRG!

Never really looking for spruce hell, But I like exploring new places as much as going and hitting up sure things.....the viole system is way better then the old burton system for sure.
Heading to SBNorth to shred now.....on my tele boards.....
which brings us to a another question. Who teleboards and who snowblades? C'mon, I know you're out there.....who's rocking the fruit boots?

Only tried a teleboard once. It was fun but I have a garage full of gear now. Can't justify adding one more toy. I do have a pair of MicroSkis - shorter than snowblades. You can go surprisingly fast on them and they carve like ice skates but I rarely have time use them.

I'll stick with my board and skis.

the burton system was way over engineered. i think atomic just came out with their own system and is to complicated. the voile is a little heavy. the hot shit is voile pucks with the spark bindings.

a crew of us almost rented a bunch of blades this spring. plan was to get smashed and have fun never hapened or no one ever really wanted to give up a day to fruitboot it.

Oops. I may have misunderstood when you mentioned "tele boards".

I've tried a teleboard which looks like an alpine snowboard with telemark bindings. You actually use poles with it.

Check out their website.

Here's a video of one in action. As I said earlier, they're a lot of fun but I'll stick with an alpine board for now.
