Cannon single day tickets - blows my mind

I still can't get it into my noggin' that Cannon is charging $70.00 for an adult all day ticket good any day and that they have pretty much zero discounting/deals going on, except in the off-season advance purchase category. With all the digging I've done, you would have thought I would have found something.

I see on FB they had a 2fer today. Where was that publicized?

I do notice the following:
"Add extended weekend lift hours and spring 2-for-$70 pricing starting April 1st..."

There's a reason that up till this year, I haven't hit up Cannon since my brother graduated from PSU.

I finally broke down and bought $55 anytime tickets from SkiNH.com.

Cannon has had Tues and Thurs twofers for as long as I've been skiing there. It ain't no secret, it is right on their lift tickets page. Weds if NH resident discount. $70 is on par for old school areas like MRG, Wildcat, Saddleback, Jay, Smuggs, etc. No discounting on the weekends, though.

Cannon does need to get on Liftopia. Even if they barely offer a discount like some other places (looking at you, Stowe), it's an excellent marketing opportunity. I don't want to get cliche and say it's the future of ticket purchasing, but it kind of is.

Cannon used to deal. About six or seven years ago they published twofers in tourism magazines (good any day - no longer valid) and had a frequent skier card, buy 5 get the 6th day free. Cannon was my main mountain back then. Still my favorite but I don't ski there nearly as much due to favoring NoVT snowfall. But any ways, point is that they did the discount game and clearly they decided that it didn't work out for them. Since then, they have had more skier visits despite future deals. They've been able to market Cannon as a value leader even though they are solidly in the same price range as similar mountains with perhaps fewer deals overall. It is what it is and I don't see it changing.

Discount cannon tickets can be bought at many locations nearby (eg: Sport Thoma Lincoln). They can be bought last minute, day of.... Unlike the pre-planning and risk of loss associated with Liftopia. Plus 2fers twice a week, every week. Plus 2fers from 4/1 through the end of the (extended) season. Plus NH resident discounts (who else has that?) Plus military discounts. Plus multi-ticket discounts. You don't have to search for these deals they list them right on their site.

If you prefer the game of buying vouchers months in advance and hoping to use them when conditions line up just right, then the discounts at cannon are probably too straightforward to suit your needs.

Both of them? I saw the sign at the main street location but wasn't sure if it was real or a late season sales ploy. There are plenty of shops in ski country that dust off the same signs every spring. Hope that's all it is with St.

Oh, sorry, just the one on Main Street. I went in a couple of weeks ago and they had "location closing" sale flyers up everywhere and it looked pretty barren, though it could have just been end of season. I hope that's the case.

The Sport Thoma on Route 3 just expanded their shop this past summer and added onto the building. I always take my gear there, great shop. No surprise that they would close their main street shop in favor of Route 3 shop.

Cannon's multi ticket purchase option is a joke. Do the math, you don't save much and you have to buy 10 tickets. You might as well buy a season pass if you plan on skiing there that much, it wouldn't take many more days to break even compared to 10 pack.

Well it was apparently publicized on Facebook if that's where you saw it. And for better or worse FB is just about the biggest publicity outlet on the planet at the moment. Then of course it's on their website. And Tues/Thu 2fers at cannon might be the longest running and best known deal in all of New England skiing. So not exactly a big secret.

You're thinking as a guy who mostly skis solo so would need to get ten days out of it. But For a family, or even just some ski buddies, who hit cannon a few times a year it's a pretty good discount. Makes for a ticket under $60.

Bummer if they are indeed closing. They used to have a nice shop in Littleton, but it was more soft-gear. That's been gone for some time now since Lahouts has taken over Littleton and beyond.

Used to be a Cannon semi-regular for Tue/The 2-fers for many winters until the mid-2000s.

The reasons I cut back on going are...

1) Two-fer deals not as much of a bargain when they stopped running the tram on weekdays.

2) The ungodly hassle I would get if I showed up by myself (or with an odd number of people) wanting to get "half off" instead of "two for one". Recall one blustery day waiting a good 25 minutes outside the tix window (as per management's insistence) waiting for another single to "partner up".

Are you creepy looking or something? Never seen it take longer than 5min with a typical time of about 30sec. Obviously it helps to show up when the most people are buying tix. Super early or late can make it harder.
