Today seems to be a big day for talk about the Bush here at AZ and I'm going to continue the theme here. So I was looking at the season pass page and I noticed that they have a college + 1 pass for next season (probably partly because of all my whining about how they have nothing for young adults). I think this is a great idea. Give the college seniors another year to ski at the Bush for only $300. If only I graduated a year later...

Unfortunately I graduated last year and once again will not be able to ski the Bush for financial reasons. Odds are I will be back at Smuggs - which is a great mountain in its own right, but I miss Sugarbush hardcore.

Wow. Great deal. Trailboss - did you see this?

I think I recall you mentioning that Ms. Trailboss is out of school this year. This may be a great chance to get next year's passes on the cheap for both of you.

AWESOME! That would work well...especially because the 'Bush is not too far of a drive...will put it on the list. We're going to make up our minds for next season within the next few weeks...ASC is on the table as well.

Trailboss have you skied at ASC resorts many times before? After skiing places like Burke and Cannon I really don't know how you could ski at ASC resorts again. After going to Killington a few weekends ago I now know for a fact I will never be back, even if it was free.

Well Austin...not to date myself here, but when I owned an ASC All East Pass as a College Student, Clinton was President and Sugarbush was a part of the deal. I skied most of that season at SB.

Seriously. Loved Sunday River, skied Pico a few times, and made some midweek visits to K-Mart. I really dug Pico, but this season they did not make much snow there.

The big issue is that with gas prices where they are and only going higher  driving the 35 miles to K-mart Pico is better on the wallet than the 60 or so miles one way to Sugarbush  I am looking into it though. Just wish that SB was as close to me as it was in college.

Oh yeah...that season I was an ASC passholder was the legendary season of 2000-2001. Snow was deep, real deep. Best season in my lifetime so far snow-wise.

kmart isn't THAT bad that i would say i would never go there. end of the seasons it is usually the only game in town so not much choice if you want a lift. mid-season, it would be okay mid-week, certainly not worth the price though. but i would ski there mid-week on a free ticket without a second hesitation!

Yeah I guess maybe midweek, but still would rather go to a ton of other places. Early season I understand, but just too crowded for my taste. I can take lift lines but not crowded trails, it just scares me. And late season I would rather just go up mt. washington. But weekend skiing at K-mart is horrible IMO. When I went most trails were open and it wasn't even that crowded, but the place just has way too much lift capacity. I was in constant fair of hitting someone, so I was just nervious and not having fun. Also I thought the snow and the base were just terrible, and it wasn't just a bad weekend because I read a few reports from people who were also there and they thought it was great. So Trailboss maybe if you plan to ski midweek more than 75% of the time then it is okay. But if you plan to ski the weekend defiantly go with Sugarbush. Also about the driving to Sugarbush isn't that bad. Its only 4 gallons of gas total X $3 a gallon= $12 a trip vs. K-marts $6 or $7. So really not that bad.

I just am not sure if it will be SB + Burke, or ASC + Burke for me, assuming that Burke is still $199. Burke is probably not a sell to Ms. TB because the price is higher and the quad to the summit remains...she detests it.

Her Bronze ASC Pass would be $369 while SB is $300 (no blackouts). So the $70 saved would buy the gas. And for me, the pass is $300 as well, so that would be another $65 savings.

Thats great skibum, you can ski with me all next season, I just got offered a full time instructing position there. (smuggs). its no bush, but there is nothing like a bunch of fixed grip doubles to keep trail density low.

OK, just did a Mapquest search. It is 63 miles to SB and 36 to K-mart. :-? SB is also a difficult ride. Ran it by Ms. TB and she was less than excited....

Your point? Sugarbush, man. Easy decision. 27 more miles? Depending on your gas mileage, that's probably an additional $6 tops round trip. $6 extra dollars to ski at the the better and relatively uncrowded terrain of the Bush? Oh, and stop whining about the distance. 250 miles to the MRV for me, Jack... ;) If you think you'll be hitting some of the other ASC resorts more than just a handful of times, maybe the A41 is better for you, but I would take advantage of the College+1 deal for the lady friend. You won't have that option next year and it seems like the cheap A41s are here to stay.

boss, aren't you in the upper valley area? then most of the drive to bush would be highway on 89 vs route 4 to kmart, so i would think bush would only be slightly further? worth the extra time and milage any ways.
