Well, to be honest, the reason I chose that was becasue as a child, my family was quite poor.

We ate "buttered macaroni" most nights for many years. And the butter was margerine. I almost never had butter, growing up. And for most of the years, the milk we had with cereal was powdered milk.

This is part of why I can live in a one bedroom condo and feel like I'm living well.

It is a small place, but I have cable and DSL. I eat butter, (Sometimes not by itself. ) drink milk (with cookies too! :D ) and as of right now (to go back to the original post topic) I'm travelling less than 10 miles round trip to go skiing. When they open South, I'll just walk over. (Didn't see that option in their dropdown menu. )

:D

(Note the sigline)

I've never even had macaroni  How did you get into skiing if you didn't have much money as a kid (Knowing most people get into it as kids)? My parents actually pushed me towards it as I wanted to play hockey and my mom thought skiing would be less violent and expensive. I'm glad now she did..mom's really do know best :D Even though my parents wern't exactly impoverished... they made me work for everything I wanted (like new skis). That instilled the work ethic in me which has gotten me to the point where I could semi-retire in 3 years (at 35) if I so desire (I'm seriously thinking of taking every Jan to May off and just travelling and skiing). I could work and make more money...but what's the point of more money if you don't ever enjoy it? It sounds like you have that figured out too :) I'll get back on topic here too and point out that bringing the multiplier down in the calculator is the way to get the best result. The way to get the best multiplier is to go to www.gasbuddy.com and look for the best rate state by state along your path to ski country.

1) Needless to say, I didn't ski as a kid.

I started at 30. I will never be good. There is a difference that people don't realize when you learn fear very well, before learning something so stupid as to go down a hill on a couple of sticks.

B) Bu in order to get greasecar to work, I'd have to buy a new car that was a diesel. I'm afraid that I wouldn't be done with the warrenty period, before the price of biodiesel would have skyrocketed.

What got you into it at 30 then? That is kind of rare.... How come you live in a condo at the resort? (kinda intrigued and jealous) :) Did work take you there or did skiing take you there leading to work?

I didnt start riding till I was 17. I felt that was pretty late compared to everyone I know but 30! Thats awesome though, I feel like most people stick to what they know at that age.

I started at age 20 while in college so I know how difficult it is starting as a pseudo-adult. My parents didn't have a ton of money growing up so I just never got exposed to it.

I thought I learned late at 12. I didn't actually get good until skiing ~50 day seasons in college though. I would only ski 8-10 times a year before that because I was in RI and my parents didn't ski. That makes for a tough trip to the mtn. And I had to pay for it myself. Hockey kinda got in the way too.
