While ordinarily I need a break, on an East Coast Powder day it sure is hard to stop

I eat when the untracked is mostly done and I feel like I am starting to go weed whacking for even small shots. At that point, everything is pretty much played out and you are not missing much.

If its mid-week and traffic is low, I have been known to enjoy a short break in the late morning. It is nice to be able to relax and enjoy everything when you hit it right mid-week with not much traffic.

Sometimes I'll ski through lunch until everything is played out and then call it an early day. I guess it all depends on the individual situation. I usually don't ski more than four or five hours without refueling.

If I can make it through the day, I'll have an energy/cereal bar or two during the day. I normally need to take a couple stops during the day for the restroom anyways. Sometimes though I do take a more substantial break if I feel I need it. If I'm not going to be able to ski all day (e.g., leaving from VT to go home to NYC that afternoon), I'm more likely to ski straight through.

Agreed...it is hard to stop around midday, although I bulk up on breakfast on a good snowday, knowing that water will help me last most of the day anyways... Off-resort is sometimes different, knowing that supper may be a late one..

There is a ski patroller I have skied with who has been patrolling for over 50 years. His motto is rest is what you do on the chair lift. He still skis almost non stop morning to night. He starts the day opening up trails and doing the morning patrol work. ski all morning, 15 minute lunch and restroom break, ski all afternoon, and then final Patrol sweep. He don't take any stops on the way down the 1000+ vertical foot runs. Its pretty much non-stop gogo with this guy for over 50 years and still going.
