Those numbers are misleading. Ford shut down what limited production they had going for the electric f150. Rivian has not been able to scale up production either. Theyre both selling all the vehicles they're producing. Its not a demand issue and the rivian starts at over 70k. GM has started to sell their electric pickups too but also in very small numbers that are being produced. Why the likes of ford and gm havent been able to ramp up production is puzzling.

I don't get this hostility to electric vehicles. If you don't want one, keep driving your ice vehicle and spending whatever it is on gas. I'm looking forward to the day when I'm not spending 3-400/month on gas. I'm sure there were plenty of people who loved their horses and buggies and hated the advent of the automobile.
The hostility to EVs is not really to the EVs but the owners IMHO.

What incentive does Ford and GM have to spend more on production when their ICE vehicles are higher margin and selling at record numbers?

I think what you should be saying is Ford and GM are selling everything they can produce. I don't think they are producing as many as pre covid. I ordered a new truck last October when Fords order bank opened and got it in July and only after proding the salesman to up the priority. It was a simple work truck, nothing fancy I sold my used one in 4 hours for what i asked for it, must of been too cheap!
I am suprised Ford is building a battery fatory with solid state battery technology just around the corner in a few years which should be a game changer on range and charge rate.

Misleading? The shut down was for 6 weeks, not 6 months. Do you realize just how few EV trucks they've sold? Take a look at the YoY comps, I'd call it embarrassing. And FYI, their CY23 plans include scaling production capability for 150,000 units! I wouldn't be shocked if Ford eventually announces they "pause production" to wait for Generation 2 in a face-saving move. I'm guessing from your comments you're not aware Ford actually loses money on every F-150 Lightning it sells.

In any event, my comments have nothing to do with "hating" EV technology, and everything to do with the facts on the ground. I'm an investor, I couldn't care less about people's silly emotions around EV technology pro or con, singing Kum Bah Yah while laughably thinking they're saving Mother Earth, or clinging to their manly ICE oil engines - I care about making money.

Ford is investing in solid state batteries heavily via investments in two companies, a Korean company called SK On, and an American (CO) company called Solid Power.

So what you are saying is a serrotype of what the owners of EV's are like is creating the dislike of the vehicle? Because I would say that most people who own them are perfectly nice, normal consumers with no real issues. I gather the stereotype is that they are total ECO terroists, alarmists and in your face when that is not my observation. I have many friends that own them simply because they think they are cool and figure that the investment will be worth it when gas prices go up. Is anybody debating that gas will go up in price no mater what occurs politically?

In a completely sporadic amateurish and inaccurate way, I've been noticing that the price of a gallon of gas doesn't stray too far from a gallon of milk. Leave out the price spikes of either one, and it hasn't changed much in many decades. I have however been hearing that the price of gas will go up for quite some time.

Hold it, these electric contraptions have owners? Will this make the machines smarter? Nothing is smarter than AI. 🐻

I agree with the "there must be something wrong with EV owners". Have you ever had lunch with a Pius Prius owner? This may be changing, butt my brother in law had one and the kids were saying stuff like "you press a button to start it". BFD, push button electric starts have been around forever. When you steal a car - you by pass the ignition and put a button in. (Couldn't believe my 5 and 7 year old nieces didn't know this)

Let's face it kids your dad's car sucks in the snow and a High Powered sports car will blow it away. Luckily I had a Mercedes CLK 300 (borrowed). They seemed to like the car. Who in there right mind wouldn't (although we all know it's no match for a garden Varity Mustang).

Absolutely. If the vehicles were taken at face value there would be far more "acceptance". IMHO, the 25 year old Elon Musk worshippers (along with their holier than thou attitudes) with their Teslas are the one's giving them a bad rap. That is one extreme example obviously.

I have not run into many 25 year old people who have enough money to own a Tesla. They start at around $40K for the cheapest models. The people I know are wealthy older people who don't have any attitude. I guess I just don't pay attention to the kind of person you are refering to. ;-)

Also you had better keep your dislike of Darth Musk on the down low. When his starlink satelite aray is completed, he will unleash his master plan of dominance of the human race. Remember those "Covid Shots". HA, HA, HA that is when they put the chip in you.........

I don't get the reference. What does it have to do with Slavery.......maybe i'm not that sophisticated.

Owning sentient vehicles like KITT or KARR will be the culture war of the 22nd century. The Hoff will be cancelled. If he isn't already.

AFAIK it's the Forester that's commonly referred to as the lesbo-wagon, not the Outback.
