I think the leaves turning early has just added to my anxiety. I love the fall; the color, the cool clear air, blah blah blah, but winter can't come soon enough! How are you coping?

I've got my new skis leaning against the entertainment center so I can see them while I watch TV. Then last night my 4 year old son pulled my rock skis out of the closet and told me to put them next to my new skis, so now I get to stare at two pairs of skis while I watch TV. My wife hasn't made any comments yet but they're probably coming.

Spending 2 hours over two visits in a ski shop has been killing me. Wifey got new boots w/custom foot-beds. Need to find her skis before the season as well. I've been eying a pair and the sales staff (who I've come to know over the years) has been taunting me to buy them.

Dealin with jonesin' by fidgeting in my office all day and staring out the window. Everytime the temp drops at nite I get all flustered. A coupla days ago it was misting out at night and I'm looking up at the mist as it floats down. I look at my ex-girlfriend and say " Doesn't the mist kinda look like snow right now?" and she says, "I'm never dating a skier again."

This has been one of the harder off seasons for me to get through. I cope, by reading / posting on sites like AZ and read mt. reviews on sites like on the snow etc. Thank goodness for the internet.

Fishing and sand volleyball distracted me through most of the Summer. Now I'm tired of anything over 70 degrees and humidity with heat just disgusts me.

Not to mention, picking up my new boards today won't help...

I am going to tune the quiver. Get the new boots fitted to my feet. Order a pair of skis for the quiver. (Head Magnums 170cm)

Skiing? Whats that?

I am sticking to my plan to get as unexcited as possible by telling myself there are still 3 months left. I am not checking the weather reports for any snow or frost or any potential snow making weather until the first week of November.

So all you over-zealous punks out there better not be posting freezing temp threads and stuff until then.

Feeling the itch

Feeling the itch (found this somewhere...)

no I havn't been sleeping with any promiscuous women; i'm just reaching the height of my withdrawal from skiing. I'll set the scene:

I'm sitting here in my den at my computer wearing my new boots, pants, and jacket, with my goggles on, and watching ski dvd's. It's reached that point. Skiing has occupied almost all of my thought lately.

Even at night; my dreams of naked women and exotic sexual encounters of different varieties are now replaced by images of waist deep powder, tree skiing, and of course, massive bumps. My wife thinks i'm crazy, and I probably am. I mean wearing ski boots just because? Well I justify it by telling myself that the more I wear them now, the less break-in time will be required once I do go skiing, but really I just miss the feeling of having them on.

I don’t know what I'm gonna do. One of the only things I've found that alleviates my anxiety is to buy skiing-related items off the internet and have them delivered to me here at home. It's like Christmas when I get that package slip, and walk back up the driveway with my box/boxes. Even though I know exactly what is inside, I still tear into the packages and immediately try on/use whatever the item is. The downside is that I'm spending money that could go toward my mortgage...oh who am I kidding? Money that could go toward BEER!

So yeah...how is everyone else holding up? I wonder if the boss will let me wear my boots to work...

I actually did that the other day! Wore the boots around the living room and told li'l snowmonster that I'm checking them out to see how they fit since I need to take them to Jeff Bokum. Last night, I undid the straps around my Z9's just to check the wax on them and how the bases are holding up. It's getting cooler...

Sometimes I put my goggles on, scrape some ice outta the freezer and smash it against my face to get that fresh powder facial feeling. It's even better when you do it while you slide across a hardwood floor in your socks.

I'm jonesing enough that I went ahead and bought a meathead film after watching this. Born from Ice to be specific.

I've never watched or owned a meathead film and am highly looking forward to its arrival.

As for what I've been up to to keep from going crazy. Body surfing whenever the waves are good. Unfortunately the water is getting colder by the day. I think I might need to invest in a wet suit.

I bought the 4 pack at the beginning of the summer and I think I've watched them all 20 times, their films are great. Epoch is really a documentary where they ski the highest peak in each state in New England and New York, that is very interesting too. I'm trying to find a copy of their new movie now.
