How old (or young) were you when you started to ski (or ride), and where did you start.

For myself, it started in 1989 when I was 4 years old. I believe the first place I went was Killington, when they had the old orange gondola that actually went to the peak.

Great question. FRITOLAYGUY? 2 Years Ago?! Man....Welcome to it!

I don't remember the age the first time I tried it. Borrowed antique gear with a pal. Must have been junior high...13? Lace-up boots, wooden skis etc. Wetook the gear out of his garage, walked to e neighbors yard with a hill....side-stepped up to pack it down a bit (at the recommendation of the kid whoes gear I was "borrowing". And I think we came down once. I made it is all I remember.

I "started" when I was living in Italy...Prolly 22. SKied for two years or so and gave it up for about 10 (lived in Kentucky, moved hear with three little kids and a mortgage). Started back up when #2 son joined the local school's ski club. I chaperoned and skied for free six thimes a year (@ Wa).

Didn't actually get INTO it till about "01". Bought my first set of decent skis (Atomics). All good from then on. This will be my third season doing NASTAR. My what a long way to come....and 2 more seconds to drop for Gold (not that it's on my mind).

Somewhere between 8 and 10 years old, learned at Bromley - 1978, '79, or '80.

Unfortunately from 16 - 35 years old I didn't ski at all but got back into it at 36 and got hooked again.

Started technically at 19 at Mount Southington. First full season, I was 20 so I've been at it for 14 years. Just started to get serious about technique 2 or 3 years ago when I first started logging 20+ days. Prior to that it was anywhere from 6-15 days per season. My season goal is now 30+.

pokemo. rather young, 3 or 4? But a decade without skiing (about 15-25) held me back a bit.

I first skied at age 6 at Cranmore. Lace boots, wood skis, cable bindings. I have some 8mm film of the event I've been meaning to convert to MPEG.

I was a ski technician in 3rd grade.

The island of misfit toys.
I was 10 years old and it was some night skiing at Camelback. I skied there for the next 5 years until my father got transferred. Never skied again until I was 45. That was a mistake.

I was 7 or so I think, at West mountain, for my first time. Then started going to Belleayre for their ski wee program for several years.

I first skied February, 1983, on a trip back to NJ for my brother's wedding. A day at Vernon Valley/Great Gorge. I was 26 and actually living in Louisiana at the time. Moved back to NJ later that year and kicked-in as an addicted skier the following winter.

I started in 1994, at age 10. My mom told me that I was going to learn to ski and that I didn't have an option. Started with a season pass at Sunapee and I've got at least 20 days every year,

First Time Skiing?

I was living in a refugee camp in the Austrian Alps near Innsbruck. My cousin who was around 11 or 12 at the time made me a pair of skis with leather strap bindings. The camp was located at the base of a mountain and there were some sloped meadows that were skiable. We hiked up, and we skied down. That was in 1949 when I was three years old. Came to the USA in 1951. Skied a few times in my teens, but didn't really get back into regular skiing until the late 80's when I was in my late thirties. Haven't stopped since. I will be buying an "Alta-Bird" season pass this year since I now live in Draper UT and it is about a 20 minute drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon from my new home.

Think Snowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
