Hunter's seeded bumps on Broadway

I had GREAT weekend skiing Hunter and part of the fun was the "bumps course" the instructors had built on Broadway. It was a blast skiing them, over and over again, and it was even more fun watching the little kids take the jump and then ski the bumps down.

I think Hunter should be commended for leaving the bumps course alone and not plowing it down at night while grooming. Between that, the boarder-cross course (which was closed to all but competitors but was still fun to watch) and the new mini-terrain park they just built on Hunter One, there is a lot of stuff to play on at Hunter and it certainly makes a nice change for those of us who ski there often.

Unless it's spring, I don't usually get to practice a good line of bumps on an intermediate pitch. I'm usually too worried about staying alive on Annapurna/Lower K etc. to work on technique. I hope they leave the bump line there for the rest of the season!

I was floored when I got there on Saturday and the line closest to the snowguns was still there from last weekend. And they seeded a few more lines too. And built 2 serious kickers. Made my weekend and I hit those lines whenever possible.

Send e-mails to Hunter to show your support for bump lines!

For real. Does anyone else in the North East give this much attention to bumps?

Hunter is finally using the resource of Broadway...
It's so wide open it makes an awesome place for all kinds of stuff...

Although - It was quite a suprise to me when I rode trhough a race course on the top of Bleeker... I was doing my usual scream dwon the Cliff and across the top of Racers and down Bleeker... And sudenlly there was a race course setup...
i heard a little kid whine... "How come we don't get a closed trail to race like they do a Windham"

It's such a strange experience to monitor these boards and see one filled with people commending Hunter and another telling us we suck for not having enough bumps. I'm so glad you guys are enjoying what we have! I'm probably going to head out with the groomers again this week and as far as I know they don't mow much down...when I was out last Monday they told me they're planning on leaving moguls alone generally, throughout the season...so enjoy! 8)

Silver helmet? That's 180. Indeed - Al rips. Check out his turn speed around 2:05 on Upper Crossover. Hunter produces great skiers.....no doubt.

Yup... You'll see Hunter skiers sprinkled into the top skiers at the BMMC every year...

At 2:04, was 180 turning an small bumps that I couldn't really see , or was he squeezing a few quick turns on flat snow to preserve his line and hit the next bump? To this mogul noob it looks like the latter. Those are some damn quick turns...

the latter as far as i can tell. which is a very difficult thing to do and maintain proper balance.
