Date(s) Skied: Sunday November 23, 2008
Ski Area: Jiminy Peak - Hancock, MA
Weather: Mostly sunny with a few passing clouds. Temps struggled to reach 20 at base and remained in the teens at the summit. A brisk wind was blowing all day long, especially on the upper part of West Way.
Conditions: Fresh man-made machine groomed packed powder.
Trip Report:
First day out on the hill for the 2008-2009 season was a good one for sure! Jiminy offered up 4 solid top to bottom runs with edge to edge coverage that was surprisingly deep for the 23rd of November. Not a thin spot was to be found anywhere! Snowmaking was in progress all day long but mostly on closed trails, particularly the terrain park on Grand Slam and Left Bank. Both should be ready to open soon.
Skied from 9:30am to until around 1:30pm with a break for lunch and managed to log around 16,000 vertical feet of descent. Lots of people out on the hill for November but, the open trails remained somewhat uncrowded and the six pack never had more than a minute wait. Some of the best November skiing I've experienced in quite a few years.
Here's some pictures. Enjoy!
