Now I'm not talking about after you've found out where the snow is, or what line you like etc. I'm curious about just in general which part of the trail do you naturally migrate to. For me I always seem to head over to the left edge of the trail, not sure why but I just do. Now one of the guys we ski with is always chargin' down the right side. Just bored at work this a.m. I guess.

Not sure why, but all things being equal I prefer skier's left. If I know there's better snow or sun on the right, I'll go there. I stay out of the middle unless it's a bump run.

Right I guess. I usually head to the edges when the middle gets scraped off. Whichever side has the most I'll go to, but I do favor the right.

For me if the run is totally untracked..usually the middle..if the middle is tracked up but the sides have some fresh Poe..mad Edgar Allen..then I go down the side..it depends on the trail whether the left side or the right side..Some runs at Blue mountain have sort of a bank along the side..so you can go up the side of the trail and get air..so I prefer that side....One thing that's for sure is I'm much more comfortable making a hard left turn than a hard right turn..

i ski the edges if crowed and generally ski left edge BUT depends solely on snow quality .

If skier density is low --- like at my home hill then the WHOLE damn trail is MINE :D

I guess it depends. But now I'm mentally skiing down a few various trails at Mt. Snow. Can I get back to you in a few runs? :spin:

Even if I'm in bumps I'll first check out the left side before moving--strange

hmmm, i guess from my boarding (regular footed) i ski skiers right on the trail, facing the trees is more comfy.
i also ski REALLY close to the edge, cutting in here and there, actually got a talking too by a patroller at a certain Pocono area with strict woods (and everything else) rules.

No preference. I pick where I'll be in this order of priority
1. Best snow
2. Avoidance of impending human explosions, excluding my own ;)
3. My mood - fast, slow
4. My fatigue level

All else being equal, I'd rather be eating bark...

if i have to be on a trail - skier's left i think i usually gravitate too.

this way i am facing the middle of the trail and have better vision for gapers. on the right i would be facing the trees, not as good vision.

Your kidding me, right?
you actually have to think about where your are going to have to ski/ride?
why not ask what boot do you put on first?
How about what binding do you step into first. no how about what song goes through your mind as you shop for power bars, when what you should be shopping for is a good rub on wax, but wait there is no good rub on wax, so you ponder and recall that you only lay down FAT GS TRAX so your answer is "I aint no pussy" so I use the whole trail. so there Meah!
