If you're gonna booze just crush the F'n can and put it in you're pocket.

Mt snow has been open for 2 days and there is already a considerable amount of litter under the lifts..- THIS AIN'T NEW JERSEY:angry:

Not just cans, either. And not just at MS. I saw a kid at the River toss a plastic bottle off the trail as he was starting his run and I was stunned. I regret that I didn't go get that bottle and chase that kid down, hand it to him and say "I think you dropped this."

Think of the poor schmucks who have to walk those liftlines to clean up that crap, too. I hate it when people are slobs like that...

Yep, I totally agree. You should see the private road we live on. We do litter patrol occasionally, you should see the $hit we pick up. Looks like people have their plastic bags from their cars and just toss it out the window, beer and soda cans and bottles. And to top it all off we have both a recycle bin and trash can at the end of the road for all this and we still have the slobs tossing stuff outta their car windows. Not only that we have this one guy who, for what ever reason, takes his junk mail rips into little shreds and tosses it here and their. I think he does it just to piss some people off, which works in my case cause I'm the one who takes the time to pick up this stuff off the road, trying to make it look halfway decent around here. The reason I know who it is, is because we've seen his name on some of the pieces of paper. We've had the police talk to him and he still does it. I keep telling my husband that we should dump it off on his lawn and see how he likes it.....but I don't think that would work, he'd probably just laugh it off, being the jerk that he is. Guess some people just don't care, it's easier for them and they're just plain lazy.

Shawnee Peak in Maine actually has a garbage can under the summit lift about 3/4's the way up that says keep Maine Green. It's pretty affective at preventing litter else where. I'm guessing it's because it makes it a game of hoops for people.

Pats Peak has multiple garbage cans under the lift with a funnel like thing. Makes it something to do when your going up and a good way to reduce trash on a run. If the person misses its altleast in the area of the can.

It's unreal when somebody like PowerBar is handing out free stuff at the bottom of hill. The liftline is littered with wrappers. Personally, I think littering should be a $10,000 fine and a public spanking.

Penalties are the first thing that comes to my mind. Day tickets should be clipped, first offense. Season passes pulled on the second. I'm sure ski patrol has better things to do, but littering the mountain is offensive and contrary to what being there is about. I would like to see more signage for a start. My girlfriend works at a resort and they're frustrated but there are so many kids I think they feel overwhelmed.

Camelback PA does that as well. A lot of people miss but it does seem to concentrate the junk in one spot.

I noticed that today at Mt. Snow as well. Under the Summit Express...there was a cofee cup and two Pepsi cans...and that was before 10AM. WTF!

ATVers have a saying or two: "Pack out what you pack in" or "Pack out MORE than you pack in"

Cliffs: Clean up your shiznitty.

Sometimes when I smoke a Blunt and the roach is about to burn my $150.00 Hestra gloves.....I just toss it off the lift, My question to you all is, "Does that make me a bad person"?
Or should I look at it in this light.
Litter creates that three letter word"JOBS"?
what say youz? --

More mountains should do this.

I was just thinking that. Big fenced in landing zone, IIRC.

Biodegradable. Classless, but harmless.

I've done it and it can actually be kinda fun, except for the fact that you're picking up garbage and jackasses are constantly trying to kick snow at you...

At Sundown that job falls to the lift department. In my shifts the people who got there last and weren't needed elsewhere typically pulled what I called odd jobs. Doing liftlines was one of the odd jobs that you could get, which included collecting the garbage in the top shacks. A lot of the lifties liked getting assigned odd jobs, as it's something different. Until they pulled parking lot duty, which was another that they could get stuck with. I didn't meet anyone who liked doing that, myself included.
