No, it started from the top. It was there way before the 2 you mentioned. Last time I was there it was pretty much overgrown, but if you knew where to look you could still make it out from the Quad as you pass over Hellgate.

I got a 17x22 plotter printed map of hunta on my wall, and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Looks like if you go down Konka..there a smallish chute that drops onto hellgate...but's not really a lost trail...

Now looking to the right of 27 there looks to be some cheery stuff that drops onto gateway...

Gots to do some exploring this winter...maybe I'll need to wear the helmet for this adventure..
I can never get enough people to go though...

Hope the Almanac is right about this year.

Has Hunta projected an opening day? What's usual?

As your going up the Quad and passing over Hellgate - it's the trail on the left that joins the top of the "headwall" on Hellgate.. It's really nothing special... Like i said - mostly little kids ski it...

Does Hunter have any plans for expansion. The area right of 27 looks prime.

Or do the tree huggers hav a lot to say?

That area is on Hunter land... But I'm pretty sure what your refering to is a big area that is full of rocks from construction..

The expansion thats on the board is for the westside..
Here's the plan... :)

Is it possible that HPD is referring to the old Hellgate that runs right under the quad through the cliffs to skier's left of today's Hellgate?

They're gonna put a quad in for 1 trail?

There's no elevation, but is that skiing down from the top of the quadc to the other lifts?

Must be right?

That's one heck of a trail then

The lift line was cut a long time ago...
I've skied it... It's going to be a loooooong trail.. And increase Hunters vert by couple hundred feet(I think -will check)...
I saw another map but only eyeballed it... It looked like more trails to be added... Maybe even some that connect over to Anna Purna..

There's a trail that connects the top of the lift cut to the top of Hunter... It needs some regrading but will be fine...

That would kick ass...I would have no need to go to MT Snow....I don't really have a need now come to think of it...

It would make it bigger the Snow that's for sure...

The terrain is really great over there...
It's going to be sweet..

There's also a day lodge on the plans for the west side...

There were rumour(unsubstantiated) that Hunter put an order in the a high speed quad last spring...

Now that the hotel is finished and almost all occupied - they are going to move on to the next thing on the list...

Tough to tell... From the map it looks like the 15 is over Monya Konka... But there's also the non-snowmaking trail above which is the access road I was referring to...

Also - look at the Hunter West part of the map... The lift line cut I was talking about is there - on the right...

Weird trail symbols back then. It looks like square for novice, triangle for intermediate and circle for expert...

I think dmc was right to start...what used to be the Narrows is now Minya Konka.
