Their website says "Stay tuned for updates on opening day, we will be open by Saturday 12/22 at the latest".

I called them last night, since I have a ski club meeting Thursday and plan to ski on Friday.
I posted the facts here on this message string
Bottom line, watch for an update later today or Thursday on the web (they promise to update it the instant it is fixed, they are going to lose money the longer they have to wait).
Or simply call. I find the llast-minute decisions are best handled with a phone call, yuo can't count having very lastminute info on the web. Besides, by callling, you'll get more and better info than they are willing to post.

I am going there Friday if they open. I want untracked freshies. :)

When I was up there last Sunday (see my Trip Report dated 12-16), conditions were excellant! They had groomed everything that could be groomed (to create a base) and it all looked great!!! I only went down Twilight Zone though, and it was all knee deep there, although there were a few snowsnakes under it all.. Expect alot to be open, cause the snow is definitely deep up there, even though they don't have the man-made base. I didn't hit a single rock (I think that says something)

Website says they'll be open Saturday and it could be close to 100%. They've been grooming continuously for about a week and they had the black chair running yesterday. A couple of inches fell last night.

I know this is a long shot, but is anyone planning on daytripping it from the NYC area on Saturday?

If so, and you're willing to take on an extra passenger (me :-D), please let me know.

Cheers,
Michael (Ta&Idaho)

I was just saying that it sucks that people have to sit there and wait to find out if the mountain is even open yet or not. We have been open for a month already. Would figure mass mts would be as well.

Magic is in VT, always has.

Me being a PITA, I assert you are correct except in the 1600's when the skiing would have been a tad more challenging.

Wow. Too much free time...

No kidding! Not to mention that it probably wasn't Magic Mountain ski area back then. I'm pretty sure it was indeed VT when the ski area was established. Which makes the statement 'Magic (mountain ski area) is in VT, always has' correct.
