There may be a shift in AZ land, but I don't think in the general skiing public. Bumps get discussed in here so much maybe some AZers wanted to see what it is all about and found out they liked it.

Perhaps, but I like to think we have some influence. I know many would disagree.

it seems most areas i've been to leave at least a few trails alone (unless it's a bad freeze/thaw cycle). maybe more mt's in new england would groom less if the snow was better. don't get me wrong, i don't understand the need to groom 90% of the terrain on thursday or friday night, but even bretton woods leaves a handful of trails ungroomed.

Moreso the case in NNE. I wish more areas in SNE didn't feel compelled to groom the crap out of everything. I do give props to Berkshire East. They're known for leaving some trails alone.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents to the moguls thread. I also love them, but didn't make an effort to ski them much until I was about 40. Now that I am approaching 50, I can honestly say I am a much better bump skier now than when I was in my 20's and 30's. My ibuprofen intake has also increased exponentially! I am guessing there must be others like me out there who came to moguls in mid-life. Sort of my version of a mid-life crisis.

I am at the tail end of the Boomer generation, maybe ski areas can add more seeded bump runs to give us aging Boomers more terrain to practice and play in. It seems the Boomer generation is driving many other aspects of American marketing and consumerism, why not bump skiing as well! Who knows, maybe we will see a bump skiing event in the Senior Olympics!?

I think powhunter is in your camp. Skied much of his life and just started on bumps recently. You really need to join us on Nor'easter at Sundown on Wed. nights, Mike!

Even at Blue mountain there's Barneys Bumps which is about 500 vert of seeded moguls..they let them grow for a few weeks..then start over..Out west I notice that most of the locals dislike bumps. The best bumps I skied last season were the chalky bumps under the Thunder quad at Jackson Hole..the dry climate kept them perfect and free of ice and there were only a few others skiing them..
