GSE estimate sounds high. Looked like 5 to 10 minute wait during peak time (depending on weather, little chilly today). Singles line was super short, like 5 people or less every time we rode it. Also attracts better skiers, so less stops.

Also, Sundance was by far our longest ride of the day with all the downloading. Not sure how common that will be.
I skied today - extended morning shift 8 till noon. I think my estimates are a futile attempt - it's all over the place. GSE really seemed to be 15-20 minutes other than singles 10:15 to 10:40 when I was there - it was way out the coral at 10:40am, but the singles line was 5-6 minutes when I went thru. I heard sunbrook quad went to at least 15 minutes at 10:45/11. When I was there between 9 and 9:30 for 3 rides it was ski on. Both NF lifts were ski on all morning. Sunweed looked to be 5 minutes other than singles which was ski on each time thru for me, but the ride time was consistently 11-12 minutes with all the stops - although I didn't see downloading skiers.
However, I never waited more than the 6 minutes (at the GSE )to board a lift and the conditions were OK/fair/good where I skied. Traffic was heaviest on the main face but nothing to sweat about - no Long John for me. Never went to Corinthia.

Lifts were definitely more crowded today. Figure less people were taking breaks due to nice weather, and maybe people getting down quicker with less ice around? Singles line were almost no waits for us all day. I also did not see any downloads on Sundance today. Was pleased that it only stopped once on our after lunch ride.

Sundance seems to be the place....
Yes, but.. it would be nice to get the high traverse connection to south bowl (and beyond) from that lift. That would really spread it out. For me, the options are hop, ridge, shooting star (the shooting star option does help spread it out). long john is not an option. too many chances to be taken out. HIgh traverse to south bowl has snow on it - but not pushed out currently. The lower part of south bowl should be connected to drop / ridge soon.

I think I could honestly say that's the only trail there I've never skied. Actually I take that back, Link past Ego to South Bowl too.

Yeah, was nice today with most of the people gone. Singles line on the bubble was pretty much empty all day. So we rode that most of the time when we were on the front. Was nice to be out of the wind. Also enjoyed our Plummet runs, little bit of snow making made a big difference.

Heading up Fri for my first time at Mt. Snow. Discussion on lift times and how to link chairs to get to the summit is extremely helpful.

Staying at Mountaineer Inn and debating walking from there or moving my rig to the lot. If I walk to Carinthia base, can I ski down to GSE/Bluebird from either of those chairs currently? Ultimately want to get to North Face or Beartrap.

Best bet if at Carinthia would be take on of the lifts there to Sundance then either take High Traverse to North Face or Shooting Star to Sunbrook to avoid crowds. Friday probably won’t be too bad but there is snow in the forecast so the hordes may be out.

Yea, just stay where you are and walk across street and up Grommet, hop on Nitro lift, head left off top, down Milky Way trail to Sunbrook area. You can then hit Bear Trap for a few runs or ride Sunbrook lift to top and ski/skate across Skyline trail and that puts you at top of NFace.

Perfect--thank you. Hadn't even noticed I could drop straight into Sunbrook area off Nitro. That would be ideal to lap Beartrap a few times early.

if you don't mind the ask, how much nightly for staying at the mountaineer ? they have kept that place up nicely - looks very neat and clean from the outside and they have the townhouse annex next door. We may need some overflow accommodations next season.

also - there is a moover stop right at the mountaineer if you need the main base - but the walk to grommet / pump house is pretty easy.

It looks like they're down to Fallen Timbers, Ripcord/Committed and Ego Alley/Yard Sale for terrain to cover? Assuming Vail hasn't changed the Peak policy of no snowmaking on Upper Ex? Have they covered the "S curves" in recent years? Haven't been following but that's a great alternative to Canyon.

Middle Ex also hasn't seen snowmaking yet. Might happen if some cold sticks around and recovery effort #327 of the season doesn't need to happen as Middle Ex is penciled in as the location of a USSSA Bump comp in a few weeks (Beartrap is the back up location)

The "S curves" for now are still mother nature dependent, and with Rollercoaster as well as the snowmaking added to N.E. Time a few years back, those are the more predictable Canyon alternatives. Guessing some new pipe will be added there in the coming years

At least the webcam gives me some comfort. Looks like I'll need an early start tomorrow!
