Well, it's time to start the home stretch to ski season as October has arrived! We may be skiing by the next time the month changes. It's pretty much New Years Day for winter enthusiasts.

How is the foliage so far? It seems like it's delayed a bit at home (MA/NH border)...most of the trees in my yard haven't started to change yet.

At the top of the Kanc, it's past peak. In other areas not far from it, still green. Definitely a bit inconsistent so far.

And if it continues thru the winter, then blizzard one day, 50 degrees the next.. :-D

I wouldn't mind that, as long as it keeps snowing reguarly..

Foliage is a little inconsistant this year. I hiked Abraham in VT yesterday and it was behind where the Kanc was on 9/23.

The foliage at Mount Snow this past weekend was in the 50% range I'd estimate. Not alot of real vibrant yellows and reds though, definately more muted colors, but nonetheless they made for a nice scenic ride up and down the Grand Summit Express yesterday with my kids and my parents. I actually have much more vibrant colors on the isolated few trees at my house in CT that have started turning already.

Most importantly though, October has arrived the Redsox are AL EAST CHAMPIONS, the PATRIOTS are in 1st place, the CELTICS are looking good, and the BRUINS haven't been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs yet;)

I love October. Good thread. Here in NE CT the foliage is barely starting to change. 5-10% of the way there, I'd say.

I'm at about 860' in NW CT and everything in the yard except for the oaks have changed. The color should really start popping this week. Still pretty warm and very dry. We need rain badly. Maybe it will come in the form of snow in Nov and Dec! :snow:

Great news! In 2002 we started our ski season on 10/26. With regards to foliage, I'll be leaving in about 1/2 hr for the Adirondacks to check it out, will report in when I get back :snow:

In the ADK they started about a month ago and then stalled out. Now they are just falling off the trees.

The month of Sept has been 4.5 degrees on ave above normal. That prettty significant. Coupled with the fact we are 2 inches below in the rain category I guess it makes sense.

There is a little color here in the Worcester hills, but most of it is very dull. All that stands out right now is the swampy areas (which makes sense). Supposed to be very warm for the rest of this week (back up to 80 by the weekend) but some long range forecasts are showing rain and 50s (finally) in here by early next week.

Yes, this is our fifth fall in VT and it's been kind of strange. Two weeks ago I thought we'd have an early peak. That looks true for the top of the mountains, but the valley floor is still mostly green.

Ya its pretty interesting...I took Route 4 in NH to cut over there and there was more color in the NH valleys than the W. VT valleys.
