Interesting, are they doing anything with the 2nd floor of the lodge for this? That area with the sort of ski museum always is completely empty.

Nice, so they're keeping the cool, wavy roof line on the rest of the lodge. When I first heard of this project I envisioned them putting units across the top of the entire lodge...

Seven luxury condominiums? I don't know, strikes me as weird putting them on the lodge.
If I where a Hunter regular I wouldn't be crazy about it.

Doesn't really affect us.. the worst thing is we don't get the cool rooftop patio to hang on now..
In fact lot's of us are psyched in the sense that they may now keep the lodge open later. Also i know couple people investing in them...

And we also understand the nature of Hunter management. they seem to do things in a linear way so this becomes another box checked in a line of boxes that has Westside expansion on it.

Yikes! Look at those prices!!! I wish Hunter would put more effort into the mountain and less into condos. I just hope they don't lose too much focus and become an Intrawest-like resort.

Another thing about Hunter is they don't spend money until they have money...

Well, that's good. I can appreciate that...don't want them to end up like ASC!

I think the family owned thing is great...

Thats why whenever one of those groups comes sniffing around we dress as pirate ghosts and try to scare them away like Scooby Doo... We made Les Otten pee his pants a few years back..

"And we would've gotten away with it - if it wasn't for those damn kids"

I think the placement is weird...I wouldn't want to own a luxury condo on top of that lodge.

But I commend Hunter on staying the course with their plans and they have been very successful...I just wish they would get to the Westside expansion part.

You guys would know better then me, but back in the day when ASC made them an offer and they turned it down I heard that the Slutzskys later regretted not taking it. It was alot of doe when ASC was going wll and acquiring mountains like crazy.

I believe the number was something in the $48-52 million range.

Turned them down cold. Thank God.

Well, the high prices are great in my opinion, because. High prices=lots of money for Hunter, which eventually means more on-mountain improvements

My thoughts exactly. Why would anyone want to live above a busy lodge?

In New York city people like to live above a busy restaurant, bar, or office building..some people don't want to be in the middle of nowhere..they want to be where the action is. The sound of snowguns is a good sound to skiers..it means fresh manmade Poe in the morning..

????

I would say there is a coexistence out of necessity. I'll also give you that many like to live within a walking distance of everything and anything. But to say that one actually likes living on top of a crowded and noisy bar or restaurant is a stretch. My friend's old apartment used to smell like an eggroll.

I have to disagree. I have owned a Liftside for over 10 years. Nothing is smore pleasureable than hearing the guns roaring all night long. The base lodge noise is pretty much gone after 7pm.

The Pinnacle units above the lodge are being built with great quality. Sound proofing in the walls and concrete floors. I think there is great demand for being close to the lifts. Nothing like it. Mom can push the kids right out the door and not even get dressed. She can also get sushi and pizza for dinner without getting in her car. Can't do that many places.

After this they plan to build 50 units right in front of the lodge in the parking lot.

Westside expansion is coming, may be years away, but it will happen.
