Trying to plan ahead a bit. I would like to try to go somewhere where crowds are not crazy. Maybe add a day or two before or after to make a long trip worthwhile.

I am looking to get my 4yr old daughter continue to learn (she started this year, and now can go down a bunny hill, turning a bit, etc.) and my wife enjoy some easy "comfort skiing". I find something to keep me interested everywhere.

Recommendations very much appreciated. Enjoy your weekend!

4 YO Daughter and Wife who enjoys easy comfort skiing...Bretton Woods is a good choice, if you cant get anything at the Mt Washington
then there are plenty of Motels close by within minutes of BW.
There should be plenty to keep you busy there as well, some of the less traveled glades will be of interest

How about during President's week in the Poconos and @ Elk? I know Friday through Monday is a zoo,but by Wednesday and Thursday I was hoping for a quick day trip. I seem to recall past years when NY schools closed that week. I have a friend in R.I. who used to advise against skiing that whole week. Any thoughts?

i thought that a few years back, we hit 3 mountains (bromont, sutton, orford) over pres weekend.. it was not empty.. not crazy crowded but more than i expected, especailly bromont.

Really? I was considering hitting Sutton next Saturday given it's the worst day, then tempting fate at Jay on Sunday.

This is usually when I recommend NH to everyone from the Mid-Atlantic that always skis Vermont. But I did notice a lot of Mid-Atlantic license plates at Bretton Woods over Christmas break.

I haven't been to Bromont, but I have come to learn that it is always somewhat crowded. I imagine that being only an hour outside of Montreal has a lot to do with it. BTW, how was it? It looks nice, and I'd like to hit it some time.

Gonna be a zoo in the pokes. I've skied with the kids nearly every pres. day weekend in the Poconos for the last five or size years and it never fails to disappoint in terms of a pure crush of humanity.

God help you if you are gonna rent. I hear Elk is not bad on holidays, but have never been.

of the 3 we skied it was my least favorite. it felt blah. well groomed with not great vibe. very commercial compared to sutton and orford.

I know it's a zoo for the actual fri to mon holiday weekend. Was interested in a midweek day run.

My bad.

I think you'll be golden mid week.

I did MLK friday with the kids this year to camelback and it was absolutely empty.
