I don't think we will be that packed at Whaleback. I don't ever have to wait long. Hopefully we get some of this storm, but we have everything open but 5 trails!

For not going off the beaten path for those in Eastern MA, there's still the ski buses. Everything goes up on holiday weeks, vouchers black out, and the ski buses tend to hold their pricing steady. Nacski is still at $67 with promo code HAXNS or $77 regularly for this Saturday's trip to Sunday River or 2/22 to Jay Peak. I am eyeing the Jay Peak trip; haven't been their in a couple years and you can't go wrong as it gets there at 8:40 am which is the earliest I've seen for a service Boston or North of Boston. SR isn't bad as well. You can escape most of the crowds hanging out at White Cap, North Peak, Oz, and Aurora. Plus, vacation periods tend to affect Jay less than other ski areas. www.nacski.com/mr/register.aspx?id=MA80873413&r=ma-bos

I think places like Loon and BW will be a mob scene! Burke is good has something for everyone! Another hidden gem is Bolton Valley! Check out Magic $39 RSNE on Saturday! I will have an extra card with me!

That's actually not a bad idea if I dont hit Sutton on Saturday.

Basically I want to avoid anything mainstream (Jay Peak, Smuggs, Stowe, etc..) like the plague on that Saturday on my belief it will be by far the worst day.

Heck though, I may not even venture up to n.VT if the Cats get clobbered with 15".

Not true of BW.

I've been to Bretton Woods for the past couple of President's weekend. Not bad at all as soon as you get off the main lift at the bottom.
Agreed !!! Stay to the outside lifts and all should be fine, just eat early and be out for lunch time....lodge will be insane !
Skied there Saturday and the Glades were skiing well, with the new snow it should be Great if you get off the beaten path.....

I'm cheating. Mt Snow on Thur/Fri then Hermitage Club (on a comp pass) on Saturday to avoid the crowds. I'll be back home on Sunday and Monday while everyone else dukes it out on the slopes.

How comparatively crowded is the Monday of President's day weekend vs the Saturday or Sunday of it? Thinking of signing up for a bus trip to Loon.

Loon will likely be mobbed, it was the last time I went over President's Day weekend.

Do you mean Catskills? Because Wildcat will be a zoo. It is never busy... Except the weekend after a big dump.

Yeah Berkshire East is going to really come alive after this dump. I hate to pay full price there (or anywhere except Magic) but it would probably be well worth it.

Promises, promises...:) :)

Kidding aside, it would be fun to have a mini AZ Cannon day(s). I'd love to ski with someone who's really famiiar with Cannon's less traveled places. Although I know the trails really well and some glades, I'm sure there are some "secret" places that are a bit less known. I've been through Mittersill only once and it was a low snow condition pass, so not that much fun.

Cannon is my favorite palce to ski. Even if it's busy, it's not really as much of a zoo as Loon, Waterville or Sunapee.
The Friday that Scotty was there, the conditions were quite nice. Aside from the Cannon Glacier - the mostly permanent solid ice slick on the lower portion of Middle Cannon Bypass - Pauline Extention, everything that was open, skied really well.

I'm gone to Sugarloaf for a week staring this Saturday, but open to some well chosen mid week (Tue/Th for the twofer) or even weekend days in March. So if anyone is going to Cannon, just put it up on the forum or PM me. I usually solo when going mid week, but bring the family on weekends.
