Loon. It's gonna be empty.

Really? Loon is bad enough on a normal weekend; nevermind a holiday weekend. Only lift you can get on in a reasonable amount of time is East Basin Double. Especially if it is a bluebird day, expect a line at any other lift of at least 10 minutes (w/ the exception of the crossover one of course). Go somewhere big enough that has secondary areas to enjoy. At Sunday River, Barker and South Ridge are usually ridiculous but the rest of the mountain is reasonable. You can still get a few uncrowded runs at Barker at opening bell or the last hour of the day. Upper Spruce at Stowe is very enjoyable even in the busiest days, and its still a reasonable price to go to by bus.

Don't think this comment was serious. Went to Loon once over a holiday weekend and regretted it most of the day.

Not a regular but been there enough times to agree with this. Crowds are slightly more tolerable on Sundays. Did have one Sunday when even the gondola was doable.

Not even remotely serious. We are going to NH and staying close to loon for Pres. weekend but I think I'm gonna head south and ski ragged and gunstock instead of loon.

Unsure about coming wknd. May bag it due to low snow, v day wknd (gotta keep wife in good graces), vacation crowds, and lack of deals.

Night skiing at Pats, Crotched, or the Whale? If this storm happens this week, the skiing should be great, but it will be busy! If I ski, it will likely be at night...

I can't night ski due to commitments but was thinking abt the Whale for Sunday AM $15. Be nice if they got some snow between now and then.

Thinking of using my free passes to Whaleback this weekend (Sunday or Monday) if they get some more snow and open up all trails. Could also go to Ragged but it will likely be busy there.

Right where I want to be
With leaving for CO next Thursday my wife is starting to freak out because she needs to get everything ready and feels she doesn't have enough time. I am still trying to convince her that we need to ski both Sunday (with the kids) and Monday (just her and I) at Magic. I already have the tickets so only added expense is gas to get there.

The $15 morning wouldn't be bad. You can ski plenty of what they have in that amount of time.

Now I'm wondering if Monday (or even Saturday) would be better crowd-wise for going to Whaleback.

It's hard to say... No one is vacationing at whaleback, so that crowd won't be a concern. But if it gets busy with day-trippers, they only have the one double chair to get people up the hill!
