Where there is no press release posted..I would assume you were being a smart ass at that point. Today they ARE talking about opening for the season. http://myfox8.com/2012/10/30/video-sandy-dumps-16-inches-of-snow-at-snowshoe-mountain-resort/

Well you know when you've got a significant portion of the population base from which they draw from dealing with flooding and widespread power outtages, the reality is that an early opening press release won't get them as much media attention as it typically would right now

It IS pretty quiet in here today. Maybe he couldn't post it for lack of a computer. My feeling is he was poking fun as they wouldn't have issued a release in the middle of the night when they still weren't sure if the snow would amount to what was expected. Rather than turning this into a big speculation thread I'll await his reply.

I thought you'd be out earning some turns!

For the "size" of it, Showshoe has the WORST website ever. That pic/link is on their main page....when you click on it...it takes you no where! No webcam's, no info, nothing easy to find. I saw some pics on some other sites of them plowing snow....they've got some 20 foot tall piles going on!

I couldn't find a weather link either, and they haven't taken more than a couple of pics of the storm

I totally agree their wesbite is total garbage. You can tell they are marketing their "ammenities" more than their skiing terrain, which isn't really all that great from what I have been told.

It was an email to their PR distribution list, not a press release.

Here was the exact language:
Since this is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime style storm for us, we thought the video might be of interest to you all. We're sending off some nighttime video we took just a little bit ago. Our current measurement shows we have received 16 inches of snow and have wind gusts up to 55 mph at this point. NWS is estimating we will get another foot or foot and a half of snow within the next 24 hours. We are currently scheduled to open for the season Dec 8, but are now considering an earlier opening due to the new snow.

It's "size" is measured in dollars. I would assume from their website that 82% of their "demographic" never make it on to the lift.

I'm guessing they cater a lot to families doing more than skiing. Just taking a look at some of their pictures, it looks very ski-towny, almost Tremblant-ich. Again, I haven't been there but it just looks "quaint", you know?

Condo's Condo's Condo's. I can just imagine their round tables now. Every operational item brought up to is replied to by the COO/CFO ..."Yes...but will that sell condo's"
