The way the weather can be in the Scottish Highlands, any leftovers from last winter could very well get a little fresh coating this time of year.

Good to see. When I was there in 2001-2002 there was not much snow or skiing up there. The ski season is fickle up there. I heard that they had a great season and that there was snow. It seemed weird to have to call the resorts to see if they were going to open on the weekends, considering I am so used to Vermont's mountains just being "open" during the winter.

It's also amazing how places like Aviemore have really old infrastructure. It is almost cheaper for UK skiers to fly to the Alps.

Cheaper and of course the skiing is much better in the Alps. But, I also heard that this past winter was one of the best for Scottish skiing.

I skied Hillend, Thanksgiving weekend in 1990. There was a good frost in the morning and the trails were slick, which is ideal for Dentex, but on my first run I tried to lay an edge and that fall hurt. I also skied a place in East London that is now defunct. Fun stuff!

Yeah, that stuff does hurt! I recall that they got some snow before one of my visits and you could see how folks had gone "off trail" to try and ski it!
