Usually before driving up I will walk the dog and then sometimes stretch the hams/quads/and hip abductors. Actually the hip stretches are easily the most beneficial for me.

I usually get on the mountain so early that i dont stretch
but i'm always careful to take a few easy warmup runs just to get the blood going
nuthin worse then skiing hard before your warmed up...the legs start to tighten up & then it takes a while to undo it... cant perform if your tight

I oughta do stretching on a regular basis like some folks already said...
wife does yoga, says it helps
alota ladies there to.....

yoga....hmm......i really oughta give that one some thought....

"If you’re like most of us, you were taught the importance of warm-up exercises back in grade school, and you’ve likely continued with pretty much the same routine ever since. Science, however, has moved on. Researchers now believe that some of the more entrenched elements of many athletes’ warm-up regimens are not only a waste of time but actually bad for you. ..."

According to the article, recent research favors dynamic, sport-specific stretching. Click on the video demonstrating some new (and very unusual) stretches. I wouldn't attempt them with my boots on, though.

Btw, does posting this make me a "nOOb?"

In the flatlands of Ct. for a little bit longer.
You're supposed to do them. I normally never do although I know I should. Do you? If so, what do you do?

I take a Taekwondo class in the off season. The stretching you do during class will make you a stronger skier and help prevent injuries. It also helps in case some Juice Head from the jersey shore is getting in your face.
I'm suprised Deadhead skier hasn't recommended this being that Taekwondo is a Korean discipline.:p
I don't normally stretch before i ski except for my feet and toes which i stretch before i put my boots on. I'll stretch a bit on the mountain after a warm up run or while taking a break mid day. I think it's best to be limber before the season even starts, and i don't think it hurts for Mountain Biking either.

Been doing TKD for over 10 years...in your workouts, do you stretch at the beginning or middle of the class? We stretch part-way through the class, after doing drills on hand techniques...

A few of Warp Daddy's are a part of my daily-stretching and except for a little spinal & leg twisting..along with my vertically-exaggerated-1st-run stuff(where I probably look to observers like one of Leary's former disciples = especially balancing on my outer edges).

>Does the walk from the parking lot and stairs to the base lodge count ?
..If you've ever parked in/walked up from...the 3rd parking lot(or farther) down...at Sugarloaf..you know it does...
