Anyone ski temple mountain (abandoned ski mountain in Southern NH)? Driving by it for work makes me think that it could be a great place to hike and ski. Anyone have any experience with the mountain?

Have not skied it but I hiked up it this past summer. I don't know what it looks like in winter, but in summer with all the tree cover it doesn't look like the ski trails would be all that easy to get through (definitely would have required some bushwhacking to hike up any of the ski trails). However, there's a road up to the summit that services the cell phone towers. At least part of that road was an original ski trail, and that road would be very easy to hike up and ski. Also, with the leaves off the trees there are probably some of the old ski trails that could still be skied, I don't know.

Another good option if you're looking to ski a closed area is Big Bear over in Brookline right on Rt. 13 (about 15 - 20 minutes drive from Temple if I remember correctly). I hiked that a year or so ago in the spring before things started to bloom and the main trails would have been easily skiiable (the beginner hill would not have been however). And at Big Bear there's an auto road up to the top so if you got someone to come with you you could do laps and ride up to the summit in comfort. The whole mountain's been converted to an art institute now so there are sculptures and stuff around (not blocking the trails though) so it's definitely publicly-accessible (not posted or anything). I don't know if they'd object to your taking turns or not, but it might be worth a shot.
