Grow a beard... never have a bad shave again.

Actually, that's not true. There have been a couple times where I've slipped while trimming my beard, resulting in me either going down to a gotee, or, if I'm unlucky enough to slip on my mustache, shaving the whole thing off and starting fresh.

Great topic! I'm a guy with sensitive skin and a casual work environment, so I only shave about twice a week. Coincidentally, both Joshs came out nick-free this morning.

I try to use only the best shaving products to avoid nicks and cuts. I'm using the Gillette Mach III razor, Gillette shaving cream, and some Nivia after shave lotion with aloe. A few weeks ago, I shaved up to provide my girlfriend with some smooth flesh to cuddle up to. It was great at the time, but my face broke out in the next few days.

I have sensitive skin too. I have been using Clinique Shaving Cream for men for years. It's $7.00 a tube but worth it. Fragerence free = no zits.

I just use gillete shaving cream and gillete disposable. My breakouts don't come from shaving. I shave up, down, sideways and what not.

I have used the nivea stuff and been disatisfied, plus its pricey.

All of this stuff can be bought at any grocery store.

Now I was watching Jerry McGuire the movie the other day, and I saw him wash his face with what looked like an aftershave/water mix. It looked really refreshing...any thoughts?

Clinique products are sold at Filenes and other stores like that. Just go to the Clinique counter and ask for the "Skin Supplies For Men" line. They come in grey packaging.

I use disposable razors and for some reason I always nick myself with a brand new one. After that first shave, I find I can get quite a few more before I have to toss it out. The second through about the 8th shave are the best.

In the summer I shave my head, have to do it every other day to keep it under control. And I never nick my head. I have the ritual down so that I can do the job in 5 minutes. In the winter I need the extra insulation (well such that it is seeing that lots has fallen out naturally), so my wife jokes that instead of robins, she just looks for the first bald head of Spring to know that the season change is here! :D

I'm a beard guy too. I shave my neck about every five days. In the summer I go to a goatee with the same shaving schedule. The trick I've found to really help avoid nicks is to wet the stubble, apply generous shaving cream, and then let it sit on there for 5-10 minutes so it really sets up. Perfect time to visit the "throne" with a magazine or the paper.

As far as my impending baldness, I've learned to embrace it. I clip my hair all over to 3/8" in the winter and a 1/4" in the summer. I haven't yet mustered up the courage to "bic" it!

Razor bumps on my neck are my biggest problem and if I shave every day with a razor I bleed like a stuck pig after I lop most of them off. I find I get the best shave with a razor when I wait about 5-7 days between shaves but the problem is I look like your local garbage man on any day in between. I recently went back to a Norelco 3 head cordless and find I get good results if I shave every other day. Not as close as a blade, but without all that pesky bleeding.

I too am parting ways with my hair so I clip it short about every 4 weeks. About 1/4" in the summer, and about 3/4" in the winter for the added R-value. The wife does it for me, which beats shelling out $10 for someone else to lop it with a pair of sheep shears.

Bald men are so sexy....My husband lost his by 18, he keeps it right to the scalp. I love it when he trims, like having a new guy. He also has a beard, and shaves his neck about every 5 days. I wish I could talk him into the goatee. Also very sexy!

Greg I could not stop laughing when I read you last post. Thanks for the chuckle. Now I guess I should get back to work.
