While setting at the bottom of Upper Fox at Jiminy having fallen, slid and tumbled all the way down as well as losing evey piece of equipment I had I was asked how I was, and I was told I said "I've had better days"

Last night at Wa when I laid out a little further than I should have on a carve on a freshly groomed Conifer...

"Damn, I have to walk real far to go get my poles."

"that was fun" or, after landing flat on my back after an unplanned front flip, "those clouds are beautiful".
The second one usually has my friends checking for dings in the helmet.

Don't you just hate wiping out under a lift where everyone can see? I had a good one a few years ago, total yard sale, people on the lift were laughing and yelling so I actually got up and bowed.

Those are my favorite. I just try to have fun with my wipeouts, make them as entertaining to everyone involved.

If it's icy or hard I generally give it an "uyah bast**d"

On my last powder day at Glencoe I was riding an unmarked run that had drifts of about 3 feet, caught a rock under the snow and faceplanted into the snow. Think my whole body was under the depth of the snow! That one I just spat out the snow and lay there giggling like a schoolkid. Quality wipeout, only problem was nobody was there to see it unlike my last icy one where I caught the front edge and smashed my shoulder off the snow/ice and went over again - right under the chairlift to a chorus of clapping and one weegie giving it "awwwwwww man, that f***ing sucks!!!" Gave him a wee wave lay there groaning. Nice one

Did that at Bretton Woods - snowboarding teenagers on the chair scream out "Dude! That was awesome!"

See all it takes for a 40 year old to get into the cool club with generation Y is a full speed face plant and nearly dislocated thumb.

(My then 7 year old thought it was pretty cool too.)

This story is copied from a post I made in a different thread:

Last season I was at Shawnee and doing laps in the park, just skiing around the features because the snow was really good in the park. After a couple runs I thought "it looks pretty easy when they hit that big jump, how hard could it be". I learned the hard way that it's much harder than it looks. Hit the jump way too fast and as I was airborne I'm thinking "Oh sh*t" - spectacular wipeout. Got up and skiied the rest of the day but for the next week I was limping a little, I really hurt my calfs and shins and a week later I needed 4 Advil to ski because it hurt to put pressure on my calfs and shins with my boots.

The park at Shawnee is right next to the liftline so anybody on the lift saw me, I don't know if anybody yelled anything but I was saying to myself "I think that jump was a little too big", "I guess I was a little fast" and "I guess I shouldn't have done that"

I'm sure it was very entertaining to the people on the lift seeing me get airborne and then completely blow it.

I don't wipe out as often these days. And when I do, it's often NOT very nice. So I don't have any thing funny to say.

But back when I was learning and wiping out a lot, I usually say the standard:

"Are you hurt?"

"Nothing demaged except my pride"

I'm okay?

This was exactly what happened last Sunday at Black Mountain. Some of the trails have small cliffs you can go off of. One trail that had a sign posted 'cliff' we decided to go. Girlfriend skied around the rock I went to the edge to have a look. Saw my route, went higher on the trail skied over the edge, clipped my tails (not enough speed didn't pull up) tips went into the snow landed on a stump with my head, flipped onto a rock, slid to my girlfriend. I knew I hit hard when she said, 'It's okay, that wasn't bad'

At that time all I saw were shooting white stars
