I don't post often but I check in on AZ almost every day. After two years of election nonsense and politics I find it quite annoying that this thread was not removed from the skiing forum by moderators.

I come here to read about a shared passion for skiing, if I want either Democrat or Republican talking points then there are a million other sites that specialize in those topics.

If the forum isn't going to be kept to skiing discussion then I will find somewhere else to lurk.

Wow, nice intro! Only your second post and it's critical. If you find somewhere else to lurk, how would we know? Or care?

i think this place welcomes anyone with relative open arms. But to make that kind of post when you havent contributed anything to this place is rather arrogant to say the least. If i came to your house as a stranger and told you what you should or shouldnt talk about, would you be willing to accomodate that demand or would you tell me to go pound sand?
+1

Wow, what a welcoming crowd! I couldn't care less about the election, which is why I was anxious to get away from the news and check out alpine zone, but it looks like you guys spilled politics on my skiing. I also wonder if a GOP talking point post would have made it through the moderation process.

Also when you live in Delaware you can't eat breakfast before you leave for the mountain, because everything is so far away that you'll need another meal when you get there.
Might I suggest, instead of picking fights in your 2nd and so on post, just finding a more welcoming thread in which to participate? In general, the forum is pretty good about keeping politics out of the posts. However, this was not a "blatant" thread and is the exception to the rule (something you would be aware of if you truly were reading "every day" as you proclaim). I prefer less moderation to more, if possible.

It's great you came out of lurkerdom, but what did you expect with posting such an abrasive comment so early in your participation here?

I think you chiming in here with a "threat" to leave because of one semi-political thread that slipped through, and suggesting how the mod team should handle this left a bad first impression. Like I told you in my PM, this thread is nothing compared to the political mudslinging that took place 2 or 3 years ago. You're overreacting.

The mod team is pretty politically balanced in our views. Trust me.

With Beef or Pork, instead buying just steaks or pork chops, I'll buy a whole Strip loin or Pork Loin for much less per pound, butcher it myself into many meals and use the scrap for burritos. What I'd really like to do though is get a grinder/sausage stuffer and start making my own sausage.

i ate a HUGE pile of pork last night in Germany...

Only real issue is I obviously end up having to freeze a lot of stuff when fresh is always better. I suppose that will become less of an issue when J and I have kids.
Yeah, they do a pretty good job of eating up what used to be leftovers. I can't believe how much my 3 year old packs in! I swear she eats more than I do many days!!!

Hopefully a nice ski season. I plan on packing breakfast and lunch every single trip.

On the contrary but respectfully, I plan to support the local economy. I buy my lunch at the lodge, especially the smaller joints. Not just because I'm lazy and I can, but because most of the people working need the bucks. The more I get around, especially the smaller places (like the Berkshires) the more I appreciate how many people are scraping by.

I've been known to buy breakfast sandwich at the lodge and eat it on the lift.

No one mentioned dinner!

Anyone fire up the crock pot before leaving? (No, not the one that requires you hit the rest stop when you cross the VT boarder...the other one!)

We're big into making soup. Nothing like coming back after a good day of skiing and a ride home...to have dinner pretty much set. Just toss a little bread in the oven to crisp it up and you're ready to go. There's nothing like coming home and getting that first waft of goodness when you walk in the door.

I'm thinking if you were to re read your posts in here you would see why you've gotten the comments you have. I'd reccomend getting involved in some other topics that may interest you to find out just how unique this place is.

you guys are WAY more tolerant of slightly political threads... But i think we self moderate well... and nobodies personally attacked anybody....

It's an amazing day in an amazing year...
Tough nt to talk about it...
